Hey, thanks for the detailed response. Gyroflow: I think the 5 sec delay only happens when you start or stop recording via the app over WiFi. Not sure but that seems to be the case. Halo: I get why 4:3 is going that over 16:9 but non of my other cameras are this noticeable when I do 4:3. Fall is looking good here for sure, sad to see the leaves go. I just did a comparison between the Thumb Pro and Walnut, it is close but getting really good results out of the thumb: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5uDprOesODIZGQ.html I have not used the Action 2 yet but would love to try it. @@AdventureFPV will check your comparison later - curious how good your ThPro looks! In my last (full) video, check min 10 (the biplane) to see me using the Walnut with gyroflow. Just viewed footage from my walnut from flights yesterday. when looking against the sun in 4:3 the halo refleciton is quite bad - you're right. But since we gyroflow this and usually zoom in, it's mostly gone in the end... Now I'm off to the flightfield to chase some autumn scenes again ;) greets, Mario

Good thought, I am actually testing now and it looks like this might be true. This is ODD, as I always use low sharpness on ALL of my cameras and add it in post. But it appears Caddx has a totally different definition of sharpness... LOL. I am uploading a new test soon. Thanks for watching.

@@AdventureFPV on the DJI Mavic Pro when you lower the sharpness it does the same thing, you get certain areas in focus and then a water color type of effect in other patches due to some secret noise reduction happening in camera. I would recommend experimenting with sharpness at 0 or +1

Hey Matt great observations. I have actually been able to get some better results out of this with a few tweaks. I think you are right about the optics and sensor, there is NOTHING that can be done about the 4:3 halo. I usually film with low contrast saturation and sharpness and deal with this in post for the best results. But it appears Caddx uses the "Sharpness" Settings as a "detail" instead of actual sharpness. I tried setting the sharpness to High and got MUCH better results. I am going to try Normal tomorrow and see how this goes. Keeping in mind this is a cheap action camera I got some decent results by changing the sharpness settings. I think it is TOO sharp but the detail has returned. If they give a flat color profile and correct what sharpness actually means in their app I see potential here. @@AdventureFPV That footage is way better. Bit less saturation and it would be pretty nice. Lens flares are still a giveaway that there is still something up with the optics, but not as bad.

Yeah it has lots of potential. I am testing different settings to make it not look so soft. I ALWAYS turn sharpness down on ALL of my cameras and add it in post, But this one appears to make the image look out of focus. Testing now new upload coming soon. Thanks for watching.

I am right there with you, I am really hoping they will add 100mbps before official release, That and the flat profile would make a huge difference. I am getting some really good results with the THUMB pro and it is only 50MBPS but it has a flat profile.

Besides the storage requirements becoming astronomical the actual hardware horsepower required to do it draws a lot of power. This thing has a power budget. Plus, at a certain point you start maxing out the bandwidth of regular SD cards. It's easy to naively want them to throw cinema quality features on these small cameras, but there is a reason why cinema cameras are so big and power hungry. I, too, used to wonder why all cameras aren't just throwing out ProRes 4444 or DNxHR 444 by now, until I saw what it physically took to throw that many bits down a pipe.

It defiantly looks promising if they att a flat profile and 100mbps. But honestly I am getting WAY better results out of the $90 runcam thumb pro right now. See example: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f8-lp7WdvK66qps.html

@@AdventureFPV appreciate that! I like it a lot except the no ND filter hurdle. I did manage to rig up something but it didn't allow for quick changes of filters so I just run it without. Wish runcam would have just put a better Fov lens in from the get go. Maybe the next version will be better.

It is better than the orange due to wireless connectivity, better resolution and dynamic range and yes you can use gyroflow.

Yeah I know, it is bad, I have been filming in 16:9 to avoid this so far.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with it. I know my contact at Caddx said it has not been officially released yet that is why it is not on their site yet. I agree it was a strange launch or half launch. I have not had any issues with mine so far, maybe you got a bad unit. Send it back

@@AdventureFPV Pyrodrone is on it, they are contacting Caddx to get it resolved. Sounds like (hopefully) it's an isolated case, just very frustrating to buy a product that doesn't work as expected, and has so many issues.

I can understand that, you are not the first person to tell me they are having issues with their unit. Mine has been sold so far so hopefully your next will be as well

@@oof-fpv8932 No luck, Caddx tried to say that I downloaded the wrong app even though there was only one on the App Store. They would never clarify how I was downloading the wrong app, and it was seeming like a lot if guessing and blaming me for doing something wrong. They finally refunded me. They didn't request me to return it, so I still have it, would be awesome if it got sorted out. iPhone 13, 16OS, 4.0 camera firmware.

yeah except this can film at 4k60 also support 4:3, has wifi and preview support, detachable ND Filters, and magnetic charging sooo... Not exactly the same is it.

The "Filter" options are LAME, its black and white, brown and something else. I am actually trying some different settings that may help. Caddx also sent me a message and said they are working on a new firmware and will send it to me for testing soon. Stay tuned for more test.

If you are shooting in a flat profile then it's up to you to not make it "too contrasty" in your final color grade. It literally cannot be contrasty if that was what you were doing, lol.

@@mjodr I was using his vocabulary of calling it contrasty. I'm trying to determine whether the dynamic range is shit, or they just pumped the contrast too high in camera and clip the highlights and shadows, and maybe there's some lateral info to recover.

Yeah, I hope they add 100MBPS and add saturation and contrast control or at least give us a flat color profile. This would solve most of the issues. As far as the light ring or halo, I am not sure what can be done about this, I guess film in 16:9 instead. I will keep everyone updated because it would be a great cheap option if they can iron that all out.
