@@hitek9too255 Probably '99, the biggest reason is in '04 the cars have a lot more oversteer, the difference is pretty much day and night as I've found out.

Now this is the version of #nascarps1 that I remember playing in Junior High. And another entertaining game series from the 1990s was #TwistedMetal.

Funny how there was barely any graphical improvement for the ps1 past nascar 2000. All the succeeding nascar/thunder games look pretty much the same, especially HUD-wise! Completely different from the Thunder games on next-gen consoles.
