Did you listen to the HC comments ... the player in the post only has 3 seconds, coming off the screen she has 1.5 secs to shoot the long 2 or pass. From what I saw vs the Dream CC hardly took wide open shots because if she did she would have had 50 pts. She held the ball too long as to take the shine from Boston. I thought not taking those open shots were intentional but CC deliberately passed when she was open. And when she did get the ball into the post, it was too late. Boston is a #1 also who has a natty and CC is no longer at Iowa. Shoot the long 2 or pass it that's all the coach was saying.

I couldn't disagree more. I don't recall tough coaching ever being seen as squandering the spontaneity Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Kareem, Larry Byrd, Michael Jordan, Stockton, Malone, Shaq, Brady, Manning, and far to many to continue. The best don't become the best or stay the best by not being held accountable and pushed to improve.

The entire team has seen what a packed home arena looks like now. They will ALL turn on Sides in a heartbeat if this becomes a civil war. She will not only get fired, but also ruin her coaching career. What team will want to hire her to coach a superstar? Like any player, Clark needs coaching. What she DOESN'T need is for her coach to throw her under the bus publicly in the media. That is the quickest way to lose your locker room.

All they talked about with Caitlin was shooting long to spread the floor for the other players. Now, coach wants her to shoot 2’s in a crowd? The other 4 players, I’m sure are capable of shooting the 2’s. Also, I’m pretty sure that Caitlin hasn’t received much criticism (even behind closed doors, the right way) so far in her career. Now, after each two preseason games, the coach cracks on her game, publicly! I hope her head can handle it! If me, in Tuesday’s game, I wouldn’t attempt 1- 3 pt. shot and let the chips fall where they are! Time for a real coach!

You have no clue what you are talking about. Clark has not shown to have kind of EGO. Most good players will take constructive criticism. Infact they will seek it out. These are the similar things the press was saying about MJ, Kobe and LBJ. the people you didn't hear it from in public was the coach or their teammates.

In the world of basketball, every once in a while, a player emerges whose talent transcends the boundaries of tradition and captures the imagination of fans worldwide. Caitlin Clark is one such player. With her electrifying style of play, she has become a sensation, captivating audiences and redefining what it means to be a basketball player. Yet, in the face of her undeniable brilliance, there are voices within the coaching ranks advocating for a more traditional approach, a move that would stifle her creativity and limit her potential. Let's be clear: coaching Caitlin Clark with the same tired playbook used for every other WNBA player is not just short-sighted, it's downright foolish. Clark brings a level of excitement and innovation to the game that is sorely needed in a league often criticized for its lack of flair. To confine her within the constraints of traditional playing styles would be a disservice not only to her but to the sport as a whole. Take a moment to consider the irony of the situation. Christie Sides, with her 24 years of coaching experience, has yet to produce a superstar player. And yet, here she is, attempting to mold Caitlin Clark into just another mundane WNBA player. It's a baffling decision that speaks to a larger issue within the coaching community-a resistance to change and an unwillingness to embrace the future of the game. But perhaps even more egregious than trying to fit Clark into a predetermined box is the act of publicly singling her out for criticism. As a young player with immense talent and potential, Clark deserves to be nurtured and supported, not torn down in the public eye. Any constructive feedback or adjustments should be made in a personal coaching setting, where they can be delivered with care and consideration for her growth as both a player and a person. It's time for a wake-up call in the world of WNBA coaching. We need coaches who are willing to think outside the box, to embrace innovation, and to empower players like Caitlin Clark to shine on their own terms. The future of the sport depends on it. So let's not hold her back with outdated coaching philosophies, but rather, let's unleash her potential and watch as she takes the basketball world by storm.

Coach needs to get fired. She’s unprofessional and she’s not qualified. In all of the years I’ve never seen a coach do that to a rookie. Im no Basketball expert, But Ive seem every Caitlin game even high school, and though she’s Developed New Skills and ways to be Better, Caitlin does not Dance around aimlessly like coach sides said, as if she is confused, shes an Outstanding Evaluator of the gameflow and Her BB IQ , Vision and Awareness is one of her Strengths. Much like a Linebacker in football Carefully and quickly Assesses the Play as it developes and Adjusts accordingly. Not the best comparison but its kind of how I see it. When Caitlin transitions in the Offense flow like that, She’s actually partially on Defense as well, and Assessing and Adjusting, Not Dancing in a paused confusion.

If she is taking time to decipher what HER next play should be that is a major flaw in her game the game is fast. It's nothing wrong with not being perfect no one is but to not work on flaws would be ridiculous. I believe she will because she is passionate about the game.

Christy is Catlins coach. I saw a Steve Kerr interview where he used to cringe at Curry`s long 3`s. after he realized they were good shots, he accepted them. In my opinion Catlin Clark practicing on home court will find her logo 3`s spots. On the road maybe just shoot more standard 3`s. So Clark has to get used to her new team. Christy has to get used to Catlin.

You realize CC lost the 2 Natty's because of how she played in preseason? So what you are saying Coach Lisa didn't know how CC plays or was it Coach Dawn who said CC shoots too many 3s ... well she didn't say shoot she said tossed up. MiLaysia Fulwiley comes off the bench who's just as good but she play in the scheme of the team, you think Paige, JuJu, and MiLaysia would like to have 30 attempts a game especially MiLaysia, she comes off the bench and you can hear players groan. Just when the game is close here she comes. I tell you what let CC do her thing toss up 30 a game and I bet the Fever will be selecting in the lottery for the next season again. Coach Christi, you need to take a step or two back, and consider the reason you were afforded the opportunity to draft such a rare talent as Caitlin Clark. I looked at your 2023 coaching season and wasn't very impressed. 33% wins, 66% losses. It appears you're on track to retrain Caitlin to your standards. Why? She is a star with tremendous talent, and your trying to get in her head so soon, and she hasn't even been in a regular season game. Why? Maybe her style of "hanging back" after a high post pass, and "dancing" positions her for a high speed transition rebound, which is another of her amazing skill set. Give some strong consideration to not messing with success. Another piece of advice, don't critique a player in public...maybe in the locker room, but not on television. Best of luck for your 2024 season.

This is terrible coaching! If the coach has an issue with a player, tell the player directly. Why in the world are you detailing a players weaknesses in the media so that the other team can key on them? It literally makes no sense for anything. I think the coach should be publicly reprimanded the way that she has done Kaitlyn.

I watched that game, and I thought the HC told CC not to take those shots because she would have had 50pts. CC was wide open coming off screens, you don't pass when you have a wide open 2. So CC intentionally didn't take those shots? The HC didn't really call CC out she was saying CC could have had more points. Take the shots when ya open, that game should have been a blowout. The problem is CC has snowflake fans, WNBA can't trash talk CC, now the HC can't give her instructions? These CC fans are the worst.

Allyah Boston's FG% in 2023 was .578. Assuming that the vast majority of Boston's shots were 2's, Clark's 5/13 on 3's would be roughly equal to the productivity per shot of the team's best offensive player last year.

You’d like to see your 3 point shooting percentage somewhere between 35 to 40 percent to be considered effective. Fifty percent from 2 is average. Five out of ten shots is 10 points. If you make four out of ten from 3 point range that’s 12 points. Even only making three out of ten from 3 point range is 9 points (only 1 point less). That the math behind it.

You need to let the player play but also let the coach do her job. This is what the WNBA is and why it’s not popular with fans and why the WNBA has never been profitable. They like to play like the old white men who created basketball. It’s pass, pass and lay up. That’s why the WNBA is so boring.

Coach Christie Sides will ( ruin ) Caitlin Clark, just like other basketball players she has coaches. * Please take look at Coach Christie Sides ( Win / Loss ) record for games' lost and two Seasons... * Maybe..., it's time for a New Coach or another losing Season... Enjoyed the insight into the dynamics of what Sides is trying to achieve to make the team better. Clark will be a better player under sides. Sides must, however, manage her public communications to the positives when speaking outside the organization about players. Keep the negatives in the house! Sides will adjust and so will CC. It’s about winning in the end!

What sides is doing is trying to fundamentally change the best female player in the league, instead of adapting the team around her. They have a legitimate chance to win it all, and make money while doing it. Of course you can’t listen to the number one pick, the number draw for fans, and the best shot in the league. No that would make sense. Draw your plays up that compliment her style. The other teams are already double and triple teaming her have her pass to the open player for the easy points. Pick and roll. Yet it is true even her own team wants her to fail. That’s why it’s called the DUMP. One player has done more for this league than every other player that has come before her and they hate her for it. Pathetic all of you haters

Clark fans don't want her to be great they want her to be praised. Coach is talking about helping her with things that would definitely improve HER game, which her fans should want but they prefer hero worship. If she doesn't improve they will blame coaching, the league, jealousy and lose interest, quickly. Phil Jackson coached and critiqued Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. CC fans look at this like a reality show but it's basketball and not one player has ever been bigger than the game.

Clark fans aren’t real basketball fans.. they are hype casuals who just started watching basketball two weeks ago. Them not wanting her to be criticized or anything less than praised is gonna hurt her career ultimately in the long run.

I'm a Clark fan and have been watching college and the W for over 10 years now. I am far from a hype casual. Sides is walking a fine line. Wanting CC to decide in 1/2 second is absurd. So much of CC's game in instinctual. Fiddling with her too much may negatively impact her game. Not saying she can't improve, but be mindful of how much you want to change and how fast you want to do it. It is true Sides is has struggled in the recent past as an assistant. Her last tenure with the Fever was horrible. Will they be able to meet in the middle? I just hope she improves and not dismantled the offensive skills of CC.
