For years, the WNBA has had players traveling on commercial flights which has caused outrage. Finally, the need for security and comfort of players like Caitlin Clark has prompted the WNBA to start flying the players on Private chatter flights. Thanks to the Caitlin Clark effect! Thanks to this new group of players. thanks to the other players who championed this!

All the new WNBA rookies have brought a lot of attention to the league. I used to watch NBA, never WNBA. Now the script has flipped, I don’t even watch the men play anymore. In Greece, basketball is very dear, it is the first sport. We have produced terrible players and super players have played here (DOMINIκ WILKINS-ROY TARPLEY) I have never seen in my country (I live in Athens) what is happening with Caitlin Clark .Boys/girls, Men/women wore herT SHIRT, they are interested in what she is doing. People identify with Caitlin Clark, but not the rest. I forgot if Aza was MVP last year. No one cares and you don't care. I'll give an example in the 90s who went to Chicago to see Pippen? When a god came to the park. Who was going to Boston to see PERI when he was at the park was the coming? who went to LA TO SEE KIRK RAMBIS? when MAGIC was playing the game? Caitlin Clark changed the game for women, not only in America but in the entire world that plays basketball

The League said they will pay for the charter jets, if they have that kind of money sitting around why haven't they been paying players more?
@FernandoL75314
@FernandoL75314 Ай бұрын
The WNBA does NOT have the money sitting around anywhere, except in Red Ink, in the Operating Losses of its financial ledger. The WNBA has LOST money, every single year, since it started playing in 1997. In 2022, after paying for salaries and other operating expenses, the WNBA LOST $12 Million. Now, unless the “Caitlin Clark” Effect” drastically increases WNBA revenue, the chartered flights will result in even GREATER financial losses for the WNBA. The only reason that the WNBA still exists, and has not gone bankrupt, is because it is subsidized, just like a charity, by the NBA. … New York Times, April 20, 2024, Can the WNBA Make Money: “It also highlighted a hard truth that largely goes unspoken about the W.N.B.A. and many women's sports leagues: They aren't profitable. The simplest reason the W.N.B.A. isn't paying Clark more is that the league brings in just $200 million annually and relies on the N.B.A. for some of its funding.Apr 22, 2024

$25 million for a league still losing money…. They all better start planning for a new career in 5 years because with the status quo, the league will fold. CHATTER Flights... "Caitlin Clark's Pressure yields Chatter Flights for all WNBA teams"
@brianroesch3259
@brianroesch3259 Ай бұрын
Here are 2 reasons lots more new fans may watch the whole WNBA, rather than just Clark's team as some say. 1st, Angel Reece & others are making a good showing, so their fan base is already beyond Clark's team. 2nd, Caitlin Clark is like Larry Bird, bringing transformational skill. Along with logo 3s, Clark brings what Kelsey Plum says is high IQ. The IQ unique in Clark is that from age 5, playing with exceptional zeal all the years, she developed insights every year, which have developed her exceptional recognition of plays unfolding & exceptional passing. Thus, her logos + play IQ are similar to Bird "playing chess while everyone else plays checkers." (I think Danny Ainge said that.) If Clark actually has that (I think she does, but of course time will tell), then her star power will be showcased against some great talent in veterans already in this league plus genuine stars like Angel Reece with their drawing power. That would be exciting basketball games & playoffs, for which large numbers of people are hoping. If that happens, interest in all the teams will grow. Again, time will tell. But that recipe is brewing.

The Indiana Fever could potentially do this by themselves for their own team with the $$ Clark is bringing in with ticket sales and with other things. The 25 million the WNBA is spending for every team to have one is money the league simply does not have. Money that the NBA is forced to give the WNBA is what is keeping the league alive.

@@dualrays One Steph Curry-like superstar And several run-of-the-mill top draft picks will not bring male fans in the numbers needed to finance a basketball league that flies charter. Not even close. BTW, sports were invented by men as a substitute for war, and as a means to impress women. Does it still mystify you that women’s sports - with a few exceptions that do not require female athletes to sacrifice femininity - are popular with men?

After CC confirmed (what at few doubted) that her playing style would translate to the W with that pre season game performance the NBA (not the W) is moving full steam ahead. Those ongoing NBA tv contracts which includes the W tv rights just cost the bidding networks a lot more money. And they all want CC & WNBA more than the NBA. 😂 The W’s tv rights will double or more than likely triple from the current 60 million a year to over 200 million + a year. Which also means their salaries have doubled once they opt out the old CBA at the end of the season. So, CC has already double their salaries before playing one regular season game. 😂 How you might ask? CC will be personally responsible for over 40 million + tv viewers (1 million per game) this year for the W and that’s just the regular season & 1 million is conservative it more like 2 million for most of those games. If she makes the playoffs that 10 million for the 1st rd and if she advances that will increase exponentially as she advances just like the NCAA Tournament. And if she makes the Finals it will out draw the NBA finals you heard it here first. The W has never had anywhere near 40 Million tv viewers in any year for the whole league in their entire existence. 😂 Now, one player will bring those numbers. Thats why is all about her and her only when it comes to making money. CC is the next MJ and the funny part is the NBA has been trying to make or force the next MJ but all of them have failed (Kobe, Bron, & the next new one). The NBA’s tv viewership has never recover since MJ retired to this today. And now the next MJ is here and it’s a woman. God definitely has a since of humor 😂😂 Make no mistake the NBA is running the W and they are going to make sure their new money maker is taken care so get use to it CC haters. It’s going to be all CC all the time just the MJ days. CC
