the brand of basketball played in the women's tournament all throughout for me was much more enjoyable than the men's tournie or the pros (dunks and threes punctuated by spectacular passing and driving to rim occasionally). The women are passing, rebounding, stepping back off the glass and more and that all has happened in the last few years. The equity is amazing. I'm amazed at how much alexis morris, hailey van lith, jacy sheldon, caitlin clark all remind me a lot of kelsey plum's playing now. Plum went thru a real crisis that was in part about her identity as a player and the 3x3 olympics really really changed the way she plays. Somehow that style of guard play is now much more prevalent now. as monica czinano said in the post game interview: "strap in". C Clark mentioned a cool possibility: a seven game final series.

Clark said herself “Monika doesn’t get the credit she deserves” Monika Czinano was painfully undervalued this season. She is an INCREDIBLE player. Objectively one of the most well rounded player on Iowa, contributing on both ends of the floor.

LSU fan here. That was an incredible game. Nothing to hang your head about, it was just LSU’s day. If we shot how we shot in the elite eight, Iowa would have blown us out. Also the refs were calling nit picky calls all game on both sides. I was not happy about the technical on Clark it was BS. Let them play and have emotions! Great game Iowa, much respect.

LSU fan here. Even in out group chats, we were saying the calls on both teams were ridiculous. We just wanted the zebras to let them play ball. Nobody watching can deny Caitlin’s skill and ability to read a defense, to lead a team. Caitlin is a generational talent. I thoroughly enjoyed watching my Tigers all year - the trash talking, the swagger, it is all so unappreciated in women’s ball. I think I might have been one person who never doubted our girls could get to this game. Going up against a generational talent from Iowa made this into a bit of a cultural battle that I don’t think either team wanted - much like nobody from the Lakers and Celtics wanted their rivalry to become that in the 80s. I kind of hate that, but we’re LSU. If any fanbase is ok with being villains, it is us. I just wish it didn’t have to be rooted in racism. I’m just happy that all the guys who were in comments saying “We DoN’t CaRe. Go MaKe A sAnDwIcH” are now fully invested in women’s basketball. They have their hero and their villain. If that’s what it takes to grow the sport… Caitlin is absolutely elite. Her threes are ELITE. Whats sets her game apart is her passing. She knows where every player on the court is, she misdirects defenses with surgical precision. She was a pleasure to watch and hopefully we’ll be watching her for years to come. Monika Czinano was infuriating me - she would probably like knowing that she was pissing LSU fans off. She plays the post so well. It was a great game. I just want Iowa fans to know that we were also furious about the calls. It was so nice to see two teams who nobody expected to be there. Nothing but respect for Iowa and your program. Congratulations on having an amazing season!
