To me it's like this. In the heat of a game, players talk trash. All part of the game. All is good. Give as good as you get. But when the final buzzer goes off, the game is over. One team will lose, one will win. This is where character and sportsmanship comes in to play. Winners should be gratious to the losers. The same as they would want to be treated when they lose. This is where Angel Reese crossed the line. Following around a player who just lost the game and taunting her incessantly is bad sportsmanship. A sign of low moral character. No way around it. IMHO.

The way they keep talking about Clarke, just goes to show how much space she has took up in their heads lol.....They make it seem as though they were only playing against Clarke and not a team. Clarke didn't react because she did the same thing and the competitive banter is part of the sport. Listening to Clarke's interview on ESPN made me like her even more not just as a player but as an individual. Her response to the whole white house invite was pure class.

For sure dude. Like it's so disgusting how things are double standard. There are soooo many examples in our daily lives where if whites did or acted or said w/ the same methods ...omygod , they would cryyyyyyyyy soooo loud....like, im not white ( nor do i giv a ounce of hoot about womens bball for crying out LOud) im latin,but my wife is white and I have to admit . And no my wife is not loud or rude type but she matches the right color For reverse discrimination. So if we're being honest then let's really be honest . As much as black folks want and even demand respect, the society we live in doesn't "allow " for whites to express or posture the same...bc if it was the same ....ohhh boy. Well we kno right. Reese's actions would have been a nothing burger if she had NOT followed Clark around doing the taunting. She did not just "do the thing" and move on to enjoy the win with her teammates...she followed her around, she intentionally taunted a player on the other team. As for Raven Johnson... Clearly SC's game plan was to get the ball into the paint...and until they showed they could make the outside shots, the benefit would be better to go for the rebounds on missed outside shots where SC had the height advantage. Steven A... You are making it a "race" thing...but you are overlooking the fact that Reese continued to follow Clark around the court with both of her gestures.

Stephen A. is wrong. First off, how is it the responsibility of Reese to right a wrong of a player on another team? If it was a teammate I could halfway understand. He’s also wrong to suggest it’s racism. It’s just poor sportsmanship by basketball players. Caitlin Clark’s waving her hand may be wrong, but Reese was also upset that she didn’t actually guard the So. Carolina player. Again that’s not for her, the So. Carolina player should have stepped and nailed some shots.

@RedBarchetta910

Ironically, Caitlin Clark initially made the "you can't see me" gesture to her former USA Basketball teammate and roommate, Hailey Van Lith, who is notorious for her trash talk. In fact, this is likely why CC told Hailey to shut up in the same game. Van Lith was interviewed before the game, and at that time, she said that any trash talk between them is "done in love." You know, kind of like MJ and Magic famously going at it in practice on the Dream Team in 1992. Why Angel Reese brought race into this, saying that she was standing up for girls who look like she does, has nothing to do with CC or anything CC did in her game with Van Lith. Personally, I did not like the way Reese taunted CC at the end of the game, but race never entered my mind when this occurred. I would have been equally disappointed if CC did the same thing to Angel if Iowa had won. And while many people were justifiably upset by those who brought racist comments into the conversation (I was upset by this too), I am sure that CC would have been attacked mercilessly if the roles were reversed, in which case race would have been the focus of the conversation in a very different way. The whole thing is unfortunate, as both of these players have been wonderful for the game, and this is what we should all be focused on.

Don't be so naive! A blind man can see ,that the only reason Angel is getting so much backlash has everything to do with race! Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t remember Clarke doing it to her opponents faces but rather towards her own fan base. LSU had a chip on their shoulders and rightfully so ....and don't believe the down play. Race had a lot to do with this.
