This is from Carlos bakery. If you ever watched Cake Boss, thats the guys. Every since the tv show, they went from a regional favorite in the NJ-NY area, to commercializing their baked goods. What you get at their bakery is baked fresh, but what you get that's shipped is commerically produced in a warehouse, not from the bakery.

Yup even their original store is all commercialized. We to back side and saw a ton of boxes from their factory. Really sad and I don't know his father however the way he talks about him I honestly think his father would be pissed off at him.

I'll take it a step further, most cakes in the grocery store are shipped frozen from a warehouse, the same exact way. Including those straight from the bakery, those are iced in store, but the cake itself comes frozen. From a ex grocery store cake decorator/stocker 😉

Seriously? Even Costco ? Because either one you can pick the flavors snd decorations on the cake. Have to say though, when i ordered a cake ftom a small bakrry it tasted better. I took a cake decorating class and to save time I would sometimes get a bakery cake snd scrape off the decorations and make it my own.

@recoveringsoul755 I don't have a Costco where I'm at, but where I had worked, we had multiple flavors people could order from. We had those flavors already boxed frozen in our cooler. Small bakeries tend to either make their cakes from boxed cake mixes or from scratch, I can't tell the difference there lol, as long as its good. As you might gather I prefer to go to actual bakeries when I can, it's good business, and they have a wider variety and better quality.

Tried one of these in Toronto. Can confirm it was instant regret. Tastes like weeks old instant mix cake. They also design the plastic case so the slice is actually propped up making it look like youre getting a slice twice the size of what you actually get.

Hi! Vegas local here. Quick tips to make your trip better: - don’t go to any of the vending machines unless necessary, like this video said. If you’re drunk at 3am I’m sure this would be fine, but I wouldn’t do it otherwise. - ALWAYS CHECK UNDER THE MATTRESS. If there’s anything wrong with your room you’re likely to get compensated. - dont pay for drinks! Gambling nets your free water, cocktails, and any beverage the bar can get you inbetween. Always tip your cocktail waitress, even if it’s just a dollar. - TIP YOUR CHECK-IN CONCIERGE. Seriously, an extra $100 thrown their way on check-in day will likely net you a much nicer experience. - Stay off-strip if possible, go to off-strip stores and ATM’s. Have fun, be safe, get lucky!

- don‘t even touch the minibar as LV has like the highest minibar prices in the world and sometimes even fees for just moving around items - use a debit MasterCard/Visa, because carding is very common Otherwise, follow the same rules as anywhere in the world, don‘t even bother speaking with people who claim to collect money for disabled people or claim to be selling themselves (if you know what I mean) or try to give you anything „for free“.

Fun Fact: The original Carlos Bakery in Hoboken, NJ is not much different in quality. After the TLC show the Original Store front went rapidly down hill over the years. Now it's just a tourist spot for people take pictures.

Yeah i work close by and tried few times, it taste like sht just sugar on top of sugar. Even an average chain store like Paris Baguette has much better cake. Goto nyc for some of the really good bakeries

That's Carlo's bakery cakes in general. My sister's wedding cake was made by them and it tasted like corn starch, freezer burn, and artificial vanilla.

That's too bad... I once went to a wedding and the cake tasted mildew-ish. I find it upsetting that when people hire a vendor (especially for a wedding) that the bakery is not ashamed to serve something like that. Be sure to let them know you think of their product. Btw, Sprinkles Cupcakes also has vending machines where I live but I would rather go straight to the bakery itself.

I worked with a former baker from carols bakery in Mall of America. They don't actully bake ANYTHING in that shop. The only thing they do make fresh everyday is the frosting. She said that all the cakes came frozen. All they have to do is defrost. She hated working there. It makes me question Buddy and his buisness ethics if he's so picky on the "quality" of his cakes. Edit: I'm not coming for Buddy. I know fron the show that he's a hard worker. What I meant is if he has a true passion for baking, you would hope he would encourage that in all his stores.

Major grocery store chains do the same. The products they "bake" are frozen bagels and cookies that they cook in store. No "baker" is needed to slide a tray in an oven and take it out. ALL cakes are shipped frozen like you said and frosted in the store. Even the casual restaurants receive their cookies and bagels frozen. You are better off buying straight from the grocery shelves or baking your own.

As a baker with her own cake business this ISNT a scam. This is how ALL bakeries do things. Do you really think these slices would be made daily? Do you have any idea how much that would cost and the time?! It’s bake, freeze, serve. Freezing the cakes after it’s been baked is just as fresh as serving it when it’s done. Soaking cakes in simple syrup (not corn syrup btw) is to keep any cakes moist. It’s not just for these slices. If these slices was put on fancy plates in a bake shop you wouldn’t be saying the same thing. The only thing I agree with you is the taste…I simply don’t like how these taste but it has NOTHING to do with how long they been sitting or if they use simply syrup in them. Don’t like it? Just don’t buy it. It’s simple. 👍 Edit: MY OPINION AND WHAT I DO WITH MY BUSINESS IS MY BUSINESS AND WILL NOT CHANGE JUST BECAUSE SOME OF YOU ARE UNEDUCATED AND THINK YOUR RIGHT 100% OF THE TIME. Our restaurant has served a few of Carlo's bakery cakes. We had the best carrot cake I'd ever had. Then they switched to Carlo's bakery and their carrot cake was so dry and bland.

@@heatherbonelli I know what you mean. Born and raised in NJ, and in my part of the state, you have Del Ponte, Bruno’s and up north you’ve got Rockland just over the state line. Those are worth traveling and finding. The A-holes at Carlo’s literally got lucky because they’re your stereotypical obnoxious NJ residents. It doesn’t matter that everything they make is over fondant’ed garbage, it got EM famous and they’re getting the recognition while the actual good bakeries suffer
