Thank you so much for your content! A lot of people spoke about damaged leaves but no one I've found so far has mentioned what it means when the leaves stop moving during the day! I have 2 Calathia that were doing well at first. Then I noticed their leaves stopped closing at night. Just one or 2 leaves would open and close on each plant. 2 weeks later I have a bunch of yellow and curling leaves on the larger plant 😔 Thanks to your video I believe I am under watering them. I water them about once a week and I don't think that's enough. I just gave them a good soak with filtered water and put them in the kitchen with the teapot going for some humidity. Now that I know they are wet I'll water when the soil is dry 2 knuckles down. She has a small amount of brown edges on a couple of leaves, but hopefully I found your video in time to save the smaller plant from losing any leaves. If I had found this sooner I could have saved a lot of leaves on my larger plant as soon as they stopped moving! I hope she is able to recover. Thank you so much! Have a blessed day 🌺

Hi, very informative and helpful video. My Stromanthe plant leaves are coming but it's small around 3-5 inches only whereas the older leaves were around 10 inches+.

My rattle snake calathea is so tempermental, still trying to find a good spot for it in my home. I'm in love with it and want it to thrive so bad 🌹 My leaves curl in on themself and havent been able to troubleshoot the problem yet, maybe not enough daytime light in my bathroom 🪥 Oh maybe the leaves are old, it is my bottom leaves that wilt 🤔 And only two of them

Hi Nitasha, I can understand how dramatic this category of plants can be. You might want to check all the necessary requirements of the plant such as enough light, humidity and temperature, moist and well draining soil. Also check for any pest infestation on the plant as well as the soil.

Hi, thank you for the information. I recently got a cold shock to my two calatheas, the left one in your video to be exact. It was winter time, and I did not water it enough, so it became droopy and melted to the worst case. How can I give it a new beginning, and can I repot if I feel that some of the old stems have died all the way to the roots? In addition, both of them have big pots. I would love to get more information; in fact, I could provide visual photos if you are more open to discussion. Thank you in advance.

Hi Paulina, Sorry for the late reply. Calatheas are water-loving plants. They love moisture too. Therefore, enough humidity and regular watering is the key to keeping them happy. You can repot them into a new pot with fresh well-draining soil and make sure to keep the soil moist but not soggy. Provide enough bright light. Hopefully, they will recover soon.

Will it start to open and close again when the issue is corrected or will it now stay open all the time?

@Smiles6411, Yes, After the issue is corrected, the plant will start opening and closing like before.
