A mix, of rugby, soccer, American football, boxing, MMA and Greco Roman wrestling, CALCIO STORICO FIORENTINO is by for the most exciting sporting event I have ever witnessed live.
Calcio Storico is a game that has been played in Firenze, Italia for centuries. Four teams; ROSSI, BIANCHI, AZZURI e VERDI (RED, WHITE, BLUE and GREEN), representing different historical neighborhoods in the city; punch, kick, run and scrape their way toward victory in a round robin tournament.

Il problema che l'harpastum non si può giocare sempre visto le regole, tutte le legioni avevano una squadra. Oggi i calcianti , vengono scelti tra i giocatori di calcio europeo, americano, il rugby, boxe , MMA, lotta greco-romana. Non un gioco per tutti.

Americans... wouldn't participate without a big payday would not allow it to be the tradition of a single city if creating a league would make money. wouldn't host, promote, or broadcast it without smothering it in corporate sponsorship logos don't have enough unity,, dignity, or respect to not turn it into a giant s***show riot. would rather shoot someone than take a punch would risk losing everything if they were one of millions who can't afford health insurance. would be mocked by the rest of the world for adopting a sport not invented there ( ⚽️ ). will die recreating this in a backyard somewhere for TikTok will also die copying the failed recreation in a backyard somewhere for TikTok Nobody wants this Americanized. The WWE would make a fake version of it for pay-per-view. It would be a shame for such a long-standing and honorable tradition to be exploited. Any American smart enough and ambitious enough to think this is something they should look into would quickly see that the city of Fiorentina, her people, and the men competing for the pride of their neighborhoods ARE the sport and the sport is them.

Oh, yeah. I'm American btw. We are not good stewards of cultural traditions if there's a way to do a shabby version of it that we can throw together ans stillvmake money. We cannot be trusted with beloved traditions.. If you don't believe that, come on over and enjoy the traveling "Running of the Bulls" bastardization that toured the United States. Morons pay to let them run down some plywood chutes while dairy cows shamble behind them.. never mind the beauty, the spectacle, the tradition, the overall experience and the memories of attending Pamplona's Festival. We have cattle in a field and some plywood. 🇺🇸
