Gosh dang I love those PBT’s. They are beautiful. The only thing is that they are more dominant than a bull elephant 🐘. LOL. I had one picking on another tang one time. I came home and the poor tang was swimming at the surface extremely distressed. He was spiked several times by the PBT. I took the PBT out and “sumped him” for months. I thought when I put him back that he would not be dominant because he had been out of the system for so long. The day I put him back in...he immediately went to the exact same fish and started fighting him again. I could not believe it. What a memory they have!

Reefahholic sorry to hear yours was such a bully. Mine is decently the boss of the tank but he’s not to aggressive about it.

Is the Apex reading the Vertez Calcium Reactor and the Alkatronic? Never mind :) You answered right away with the video. I was too anxious. Thanks :)

Both! Its reading the PH inside of the reactor and the Alk reading from the last alkatronic test.

Just a word of caution, I burned 2 of 5 power bars by attaching them like you did on the bottom of the tank. The first one I thought it was a fault, the second one when right in front of me. The problem was heat had nowhere to go and once you put the stand cover it will build up to the point of overheating the electrical equipment. Keep an eye on this and make sure you are not trapping the heat.

Great point and thanks for the heads up! I was actually hoping it would warm the tank a bit save some heater energy but didnt consider the head for the power supply's. I do have 5-6" of space at the end by the over flow that vents up (once the stand is sealed) Adding a little PC fan there to draw the air out might not be a bad idea as preventative once i get side panels.

I saw that you rearrange line on the vertex in order to use the kamoer if you can please visually show from and to where they go. And as for the needle value I will leave it open and just play with to reduce noise or is there more to it please explain.. thank you in advance..

Thanks for the great video. You showed you apex controlling the ph. Are you using an outlet connected to a ph controller? The tolerance is also extremely tight so wouldn't that have the outlet wear out fast?

The more it cycles the more wear one the outlet. Ideally tune your bubble counter so your solenoid stays on longer

@@ReefDudes ok just wanted to make sure I understood the tolerance? Didn't know if the PH fluctuations were enough to cause the outlet to cycle much. Seems like a lot that could cause it to fail.

Will you still utilize your Kamoer FX-STP for calcium reactor after you purchase the Dosetronic? lol I know my replies are late but I love this particular video. You don’t know how many time I’ve seen it lol. I do like all your videos but there is a couple I can watch over and over again becuase of the equipment and how you explain it well.

Angeloflight yep. That’s the feed pump for the CaRx where the dosetronic is for dosing on top of it along side the reactor

THE REEFIN RICAN it really depends on Coral and consumption but I’m going to say 150g+ it starts to make more sense on a daily heavy coral load tank over the long term

I’m finely going to setup my calcium reactor which consists of: Vertex DC6 as yours, Kamora, Carbon Doser.. what dosing ml did you start at? I also see Alk on your Apex, did you connect your kamora to the apex and is how your alk showed up on your apex..

The alkatronic feeds the alk results to the apex via a bnc port

That’s interesting you said ozone is a carbon replacement, could you elaborate on that? Are you saying it fuels the bio filter similar to carbon dosing does ?

It’s not the same thing but they both help remove the yellowing organics out of the water. To give you clearer water. Carbon absorbs. O3 breaks down

The calcium reactor dissolves old coral skeletons then you drip that nutrient rich fluid (effluent) back into the tank to dose your calcium/alkalinity.

Hello I'm setting up my first one. I got a Milwaukee ph controller 1 thing I don't understand do I need to set the controller on the above switch or the bellow

Moshe Metayev co2 lowers the PH so you turn on the solenoid when it goes above a certain ph then turn it off when it goes to low

Thank you for the video you ph is very stable main goes down to 7.8 my reactor ph 6.66 which is good I cannot get my ph to 8.0 - 8.3 What should I do?

Can try outside air to your skimmer. Or adding a refugium if you don’t have one

ReefDudes no I drip them where my vortex L2 pump is @ i am working with 140 gal RedSea Reefer so it will help the chaeto to grow better if the drip goes thru there

I am also using the Vertex, but got a problems with low pH. How do you keep your pH high?

Rolf Iversen what ph do you have inside of your reactor? A refugium it turf scrubber can help boost it. Also if you can get your skimmer to pull in outside air it can help a good chunk!

@@ReefDudes I got a average of 6.41 ind the reactor. The averege pH in the tank is 7.91. Like it to be 8.1-8.2. The system is 600 gal with 120 refugium and air from outside.

@@rolfiversen9321 Sounds like you have a good chunk of the methods in play. What are you using to light your refugium? Pushing it harder with more PAR can increase the growth and PH. You could also try lowering the co2 in the reactor (raising the PH) and upping the effluent flow rate a bit which can work to an extent. there is a point where it will be pushing it through faster than it disolves but if you find that nice balance you can still dose with a higher PH to start with. Out side air and a strong refugium light are my main 2 things to target.. There is CO2 absorbing media you can hook up to you skimmer intake but that can get expensive to maintain

Rolf Iversen it’s still debated if chaeto needs rest or not. I know a few who keep them on constantly. More par or lights + longer duration will all help :)
