Hello Sir, Thks so much for you deplicted and comms: (international student?)/If i can allows myself: the Diameter of the Rivet should be equal to three times the thickness. You take one Diameter that's true but add just 1/2 you forget to take one diameter supplementary. If because i m on the review about the sheet metallic. Tchiouz

The rule is to add 1. And. 1/2 the diameter So he did it as Add 1 dia which is +0.125 And then add 1/2 the dia (1/2 of 0.125) is = 0.0625 Put together you get +0.125 + 0.0625 ....................... You could skip this by saying + (1.5 * Dia) Where multiplying 1.5 takes care of this But I imagine he just wants to make it clear that you add 1 Dia and then 1/2 Dia By breaking it up into two steps

Hey Jay! Thanks for both rules in Rivet calculation... What about the hole size (diameter) on both plates of the stack?

The hole size is based on your rivet size. Each rivet diameter has a corresponding drill bit diameter to drill the hole. The hole sizes are not going to be in fractions. There are a lot of charts available that will give you the exact bit size based on the rivet being used. Typically you would be using number or letter bits.
