THANK YOU SO, SO MUCH!! I didnt understand this topic when it was taught in class and later gave up for a yr but now we're doing it again and i figured I had to deal with it sooner or later. With your video, I FINALLY understood the concept and can now solve questions on my own. Really grateful, man.

Really confused at the beginning when you made separate equations for the blocks, so I paused, and singled out all tension variable, and substituted them until they fit in block m1 equation with the Fa. Ended up as Fa = a (m1+m2+m3). Now it makes much more sense. But as you can see, as I un paused, so they somewhat the same thing. I was confused whether the tension was the same in all the ropes.

Thank you so much! That was an extremely clear explanation. For the problem I was solving, the total acceleration was already given to me for three identical blocks being pulled to the right with a force of 55 N. It asked for the tension of a string but it's the same throughout since the blocks are identical. I got the answer now :)

I'm really confused you didn't put any frictional force on the forces acting horizontal cause according to my teacher whenever there's an applied force there's going to be a frictional force unless it's frictionless,but you didn't mentioned that it's frictionless that is why I'm lost.

Hi, I am confused. For the 8kg block T1 is acting to the right and t2 is acting to the left. But why is ma= T1-t2? T1 and t2 are acting on different objects why will they be able to cancel out each other?
@kseriousr3 жыл бұрын
It's a freebody diagram. The objects are analysed in parts. t1 is pulling from the right, but the middle object is also pulling the left most object with a tension force of t2 toward the right. Acording to newton's third law, the left most object is also has to pull the middle object toward the left, hence the -t2.

What if we got the answer 59.62N as the answer? As in: Fa= (Ba+Bb+Bc)*a 300N=(5kg+8kg+2kg)*a a=300N/15kg a=20m/s^2 Tension on Tc: Tc=Bc*(g+a) Tc= 2kg*(9.81m/s^2 + 20m/s^2) Tc=2kg*29.81m/s^2 Tc=59.62N tension in the string between blocks A, B and C = 59.62 N My question is what is the difference?
@LIFTBEYONDLIMITS2 жыл бұрын
Why do the second two blocks have the same tension?

Why does the original force drop between the bodies? I've asked on physics stack exchange and my professor but no satisfactory answer so far. If one force is exerted in the first place why does it drop towards the end of the system?
@PhysicsNinja9 ай бұрын
Because they don’t pull as much mass. The second only pulls 2 blocks, the third tension only pulls 1 block

Simple trick: T1: (5+8)×300/5+8+2 13×300/15 3900/15 =260 For those who want to save some time F=ma That means a=f/total mass Tension= (m1+m2)×force/total mass (specific for the case of T1)
