Fields 2018 Ohio State team was 9th in the nation in total defense. Caleb’s 2023 USC team was 116th in the nation in total defense. In college Caleb was always on a worse team than Fields, yet his stats still smoke Fields. Caleb Williams: 37 games = 93 TD / 14 Int / 10,082 Yards / 169 Rating + Rushing: 966 Yards / 27 TD Justin Fields = 34 games = 67 TD / 9 Int / 5,701 Yards / 178 Rating + Rushing: 1,133 Yards / 19 TD Caleb Williams also played well against ranked teams: 12 games / 3,602 Pass Yds (300 per game) / 27 Pass TD / 8 INT / 66.7 completion pct / 9 Rush TD / 3 fumbles lost. Most of those losses came from the defense not knowing how to tackle or cover routes. Caleb can’t play offense AND defense. There is a reason why people have been comparing Caleb to Mahomes. I have watched all of Caleb’s USC games except for about 4, and it is easy to see why. They have seen him make all those crazy Mahomes throws. We can watch them right here on KZfaq. We don’t need to watch full games because they have already been documented on video. Caleb’s ability to make accurate, off platform throws - combined with his ability to escape tackles - is what makes him fun to watch. Draft him or don’t draft him - just don’t let the Patriots get him. Don’t let the Patriots back in the playoffs.

Greeny has been on point on several fronts. Mahomes was a 3-star coming out of HS. He literally didn't get a reputable scholarship offer outside of Texas, so he signed with T-Tech. Nobody scouted Mahomes for the draft. The Chiefs GM found him and guess who Mahomes talked to first...Matt Nagy😂 Yeah the coach the Bears fired but kept Flus. Go check out that Mahomes vs Baker game...Oklahoma vs Texas Tech. Baker was a BALLER with a cannon of an arm. Awesome game. Fact is regardless of who they draft, nobody knows. Mahomes would NOT be 3x SB champion on the Bears because they aren't the Chiefs. He sat behind a back-to-back Pro Bowl QB in Alex Smith. Fields was thrown to the wolves because Nagy was forced to play him early. Bears fans are neurotic. But for Fields sake, I hope they trade him to the Steelers or Falcons where the coaches and city have seen him, want and love him. And fyi, Burrow has only lost to Mahomes once. Both Fields and Caleb will do well but Mahomes is 1 of 1. Stop being clowns.

NFL scouts drool over QBs so much to the point where we see a “once in a lifetime talent” every year at the draft in that position… the NFL, its fans, scouts, etc has this unhealthy obsession and impatience of the QB, and this is detrimental to the league and developing players… if the Bears a team I loved since I was a child give up on Fields and decide to draft Williams, I’m a say this… it shows a level of arrogance by the front office thinking he’s not good enough, when in all actuality they threw him under the bus (like Riddick said at the 3:40 mark), when the front office failed to not only surround him with a good line, not only failed to provide him with viable coaching on the offensive side… I see players like Mayfield (Swagu said it best at the 5:00 mark about Baker) and Geno Smith doing well in their situations this season shows me that situation is everything and if I’m an outsider looking in, like what makes me think that trading Fields and getting Williams the same s**t isn’t going to happen with Williams?! Fields never had a real shot and he’s been accountable, he’s been improving, he increased his QBR by 11 points after his injury, they don’t have the #1 pick because this team absolutely sucked, they have it because of Carolina’s arrogance thinking they’ll be better and was willing to trade for a QB with a shitty infrastructure… and the Bears with their record without Carolina’s pick were a seven win team that could’ve very well been a ten win team if they didn’t blow games against Denver, their first game against Detroit and maybe either the first Minnesota game or New Orleans The only reason you let go of Fields is because of Money, plain and simple… that’s the only reason… which if Caleb is good (which is a possibility but I Don’t TRUST IT), you’re going to have to pay him 55-60 million a year with the way contracts are looking to be by the time the 2027-2028 seasons pass… in hindsight, Fields’ contract would be cheaper long term… Also… there’s something that Mike Lombardi said, the essential element of team building starts with an O-Line and D-Line cause that provides security… what were the common core of our recent conference champions heading into the Super Bowl?!? Continuity on both lines… Chicago could fix the interiors for both lines, actually get Fields one more piece for a WR2, maybe a second tight end, and get a Middle Linebacker… If Chicago does the same thing with Williams, it will screw him up… and this front office arrogance is showing right now at its worst

It’s funny because Ryan has never hinted on anything except for he wants to see Justin as part of the future and he said at the end that but we have to do our due diligence and at least consider that I thought because that’s what you’re supposed to do as a GM. But that’s it. He never once said you know just needs to be this if you blah blah blah. And I don’t think Justin is going anywhere because he’s not talking about anything, he’s not packing his bags. And again, it makes no sense to put two years of developing Justin, two years of drafting players to put around him, talking about the right type of offensive lineman that can move, our athletic, guys who can keep up with zone runs and Justin Fields tendency to takeoff and run. If you watch Josh Allen, sure he looks pretty good running but a bit stiff. Lamar Jackson, sure he’s very fluid he moves well but he also has some awkwardness to his step he’s not graceful and he will more than often get injured every year. And although his talent as a passer is definitely better and he’s making much better decisions, I don’t know if he’s ever going to win a Super Bowl I think he’s hit his ceiling but who knows you never know. Is that because he doesn’t have enough guys around him? possibly. But I don’t think he’s done trying. Jared Goff has resurrected his career, he’s gotten to play in the Super Bowl twice… Not bad for six year? Player a guy who was not supposed to start again on another team, another throw away and yet now he’s the main man in Detroit and is really great. So people need to understand that even guys with the lower ceiling, you know not athletic, but has the right size, tall more like Tom Brady. Those guys succeeded in the NFL because they have a great blocking upfront. He’s in a good situation and he could probably get to a Super Bowl that’s not impossible. But because it is where the ability to your legs are so important, and guys are just fields are going to be more prevalent in the next three years or so. I still think guys like Justin and other quarterbacks like Anthony Richardson, that could be the next wave because Patrick Mahomes has that ability, he’s much like Aaron Rodgers except a bit better. And Justin Fields is probably one of the best if not the best runner with the ball if you wanna talk about a player/quarterback who has a little bit of everything in his running game and doesn’t make you cringe when he wants to lower his shoulder and attack. I love that. He’s tough as nails. And I don’t think she’s going to be so easily to injure plus he’s taking less direct hits. But every now and then I don’t have a problem with that I think that’s awesome. Josh Allen constantly does that he’s not injured more often than Lamar Jackson so I don’t know, it’s just size and build. What about Caleb? How often is he going to be injured? He could be exactly like Griffin RG three was a very similar player talent, is a little taller but all the same qualities mobility athleticism can throw the ball anywhere.but he’s got to be careful so perhaps he’s going to be more like him than Justin Fields… The guy he is compared to.

As a packers fan I’m praying that the bears keep fields. It’s been 3 years now. His best games came against some historically bad defenses. And his team wasn’t bad. The defense was awesome for a lot of the season, the o line actually was middle of the pack and performed better with Bagent at QB, and you can do much much worse than DJ Moore, Cole Kmet, Darnell Mooney (who btw has a bad rap because anytime he’s targeted Fields airmails him), Khalil Herbert, and Roshon Johnson. Draft MHJ acquire as many picks as possible maybe even trading back to 3 if possible. Fields was always QB 2 in that draft hasn’t been able to take the year 3 jump everyone expected, but if he’ll be cheap money in the future, we’ll have cap money and a chance to draft 3-5 starters every year for the next 2-3 years. So what I’m saying as a Bears fan. We’ll trade to 2, take Maye and keep fields

That would be true if there was only one QB-needy team. The only people I have ever heard mention"resetting the clock" have been TV commentators. Teams don't worry about resetting the financial clock if they believe they have the right guy in place. They've already tried resetting the clock twice and are in the same position. So doing the same thing and expecting something different is never successful. What has been proven successful in building championship level teams is getting multiple highly talented players on your roster. Getting multiple first and second rounds picks would be the best way to obtain that knid of talent.

I could be wrong. BUT I dont like the reset the clock argument. Caleb Williams will cost more than JF1. CW will make close to 4yrs 40 mil with a 5th year option between 30-40 mil (5yrs 80mil) JF1 is on a 4yr 18mil contract w 22 mil 5th year option (5yrs 40mil). CW second contract WILL be 60 mil per year. Josh allen got 43 mil in 2021, J Burrow got 55 mil last year. Dak, J LOVE, Tua, are all going to want 50 mil per year. By the time CW enters his second contract 60 mil will be the going rate. I think you can get JF1 4-5yr around 40-45mil, so all in all, JF1 10 yrs 260 mil. CW(10yrs 380 mil)

Also, there seems to be other behavioral issues lurking in the background. Stay away, stay far away, and let another team make the sucker move. Who's highest QBR in a season was 56.3... what is there to hold onto? Blame the coaches, players and front office all you want, those numbers do not lie. Nobody knows if Caleb Williams will be better, or Maye or Daniels depending where Chicago goes at QB, but Fields is out of Chicago. Make no mistake, Fields ability to run with the football exaggerates how people evaluate his game, as he's spectacular running with the football. But as a QB his lack of arm talent and inability to execute in the passing game is factually below average. What the Bears must consider is whether they think Fields is worth $35 million per year or even more.
