Why do you forget the crippling poverty? Indians are much better off now! This video only represents rich people more or less. The Indian economy was a meagre 60 billion $ then, now it's more than 50 times with a much better standard of living (HDI). India in 1960s was a boiling bowl of poverty

If you have went to kolkata in the so called peaceful 1970s that is mentioned in the above comment then you would see that far more children are begging on the road, far more poverty far more underdeveloped roads and etc. I didn't even say that living standards is good now. What I argued is simply kolkata in 2020s is a better place to live than 1970s. You can search how many people were uplifted from poverty after 1990s . Even eminent economists agree on this. You search india poverty reduction, india HDI, everything! You'll see the change

Obviously now also we are a poor country only. We are not out from it yet. But my point is it has reduced. Telling a time peaceful just because a upper middle class enjoyed this virtually competition less era although other people sufferedthen it is not worth it.
