Honestly, that mother who was drug addicted has my respects. Instead of keeping the baby and risking her life, she asked the family to adopt her. Not everyone can do that.

Some drug addicts try to raise their children themselves but all that happens is that the children go into the foster care system and the parents go into the pokey for a long time.

@Juntasan Shunsa It's because she saw her own flaws and decided the best for her baby, not herself. Instead of keeping her own child for selfish reasons, she gave it up for adoption, to give it a chance of a normal family life because she knew that she couldn't give him what he needed and on the other hand she gained a little more space to concentrate fully on her recovery. Her baby is save, with a loving family and she can get into rehabilitation. Don't judge people who suffer from addiction - lots of them have their reasons to do it. Of course thats no excuse for certain behaviour but you shouldn't judge a person who tries to do the best out of their situation and thinks about their child first.

3 Years ago my wife and I made the decision to take temporary custody of my sister in law 6 month old son due to her addiction to heroin. She gave us temporary custody of the baby so the baby came to live with us while she recovered. I am a cop like the gentlemen of this story and a father of 3 (24, 22, 20). A few weeks later we received a call from the police informing us that she OD. At this point the baby was with us so there was no way he was going anywhere. We adopted him months later. Today he is a healthy and super active 3 year old. I feel so blessed to have him in my life...

@@blackavenger20 There are definitely some bad apples on the police force all across this country but definitely not all. I had a job where I was being sexually harassed. None of the higher ups would seriously address it because they were all in the same fraternity. On an intuitive whim I went to the local police department to inquire about making a report. The police officer I spoke with came to my job to do a "little research" on the male who was harassing me. Once he found out that the police were there asking about him, I never had any problems out of him again. The officer later told me to let them know if I had any more issues with him in the future. I bet your children are very fine upstanding young people! I am not a great person, I've lost my son twice due to my struggles with addiction. He's now 15. I just love him SO much and always have.... it's so important they know that. I am so blessed, I feel like the luckiest mother alive bc I know he loves me, he has my back like no other in this world and I have never (would never) even ask him to do that. He loves me bc he knows I tried very very hard to give him the best life I could, but I feel like such a failure. He deserves better then what I can give bc of my issues (I am only 34 I am disabled both mental & physical health problems) but despite that I know for a fact if he had an option to trade for a better mom he wouldn't. No matter how low I feel I keep going trying to be a better person bc that's what I want for him, to never give up. Its very very difficult raising a child in this world and I just don't want him to become jaded like I have as a result of a traumatic, dysfunctional & abusive childhood that led to my breakdown when my son was 6 and I was 25. I was such a great mom those first 6 years. No drugs. No mental health wards. No serious suicide attempts. The only way I can even live with the devastating choices i have made is to tell myself that this has been God's plan for me all along, that I hadsome things I really needed to learn. I'm just so glad to be alive. I don't take life for granted like I used to, and I don't ever count myself as better then the next person.

Yeah. See how THIS IS A NEWS STORY? That is because it isnt the norm and it is not common... Can we stop acting like a pregnant addict who chooses an abortion at 8 weeks before a zygote has a central nervous system or a face letalone the ability to feel pain or even comprehend it's very existence is some sort of "monster"? In a perfect world all the unwanted kids would be adopted by loving families like this but that simply is not the reality of the situation. 90% of children who go through the foster care system will end up either PREGNANT or dropped out of high school before they hit 18. Let that sink in for a moment.

And would you be saying the same thing if that baby was born malformed and a vegetable? Is that fair to that child? Would you be saying the same thing if she decided to keep the baby and continue to do drugs? She was lucky to find a family willing to adopt a baby born to a drug addicted mother. VERY LUCKY! Most do not get that lucky, especially the ones with health problems. Adoption in this country, unless you know the mother, are outrageously expensive as it is but add on the hospital bills that a baby born to drug addiction with health problems will need is unattainable for most people. Many of these kids end up in the foster system where they bounce around from home to home, some homes not being good, and by 18 dumped into an institution. Does that sound like a good life?? This baby is lucky, and appears to not have any major health complications yet, but many are not.

Addiction is a very hard thing to overcome. And most of the time no thought is given about others, only about getting that next fix. I applaud the mother that even in her addiction she thought about her baby. I know that was a hard choice for her. I also applaud the family that took that precious baby girl into their home and hearts ❤. It's never easy for the wife to take in another woman's child and give them love, ( to the wife and mother) you are an amazing lady for doing so. And it's so happens I ran across this on Mother's Day 2019. So I would like to wish a Happy Mother's Day. And God Bless you and your beautiful family. @@johnmagill9496, it seems in cases like this, the father is, for lack of a better term, “unknown”, or there’s the sad possibility that he didn’t care. Maybe he left her upon figuring out if she was pregnant. I dunno for certain, but I am happy Mom tried to make a good decision and it worked out.
@johnmagill9496
@johnmagill9496 3 жыл бұрын
@@HoneyBee-oy1hf I understand. But what I'm trying to convey is that, in many or at least certain cases knowledge of the baby is kept from the father or he is denied an opportunity to have custody of the child only out of pure spitefulness of the mother. I'm not saying it happens all the time, but it does in fact happen. There are lots of fathers who would love to have their children, but unless he has an awful lot of money to go to family court to fight for them, he has almost no chance of getting his children. Even if he does have to money fight, his chances are still very low of getting them. The state sides heavily in favor of the wishes of the mother even if there is nothing to show the father to be unfit for child custody. So, anyway, it was just a thought.
