We hired a car, and set off from LA, and did a 1400 mile road trip, up to Carmel by the Sea, and then inland to the great national parks of Yosemite and Sequoia. America practically invented the classic road trip, and didn't disappoint.
In this first part, we get underway, with a couple of days in chilled out Santa Barbara, and then up to the beautiful wineries around St Luis Obispo.
