A California superintendent has been fired after allegedly bullying students because they did not clap for her daughter during an awards ceremony. KNSD's Omari Fleming reports.

As a parent I think that any superintendent, principal, etc. should NOT be texting a student's personal phone number. That's inappropriate. Anything that needs to be communicated has to be done through the parents.

Even if it's not illegal, that's just creepy AF. School counselors wanting to be available to a student reaching out in a time of crisis? Sure! But, that's probably about it.

I do not believe Phelps. I believe the student. As a student of Alief Independent School District, I was bullied daily, all the way to attempted suicide by the daughter of a Vice Principal at one of the two existing high schools. She was never punished. From what I could see, she was rewarded, and I was punished. School districts are full of nepotistic abuses.

I was bullied by a kinesiology professor at cal poly Pomona. At the time I don’t know where/who to turn to for help. My goal is to learn,get a degree to earned a living. NOT to be bullied and put down. She did this to her students .

I would just like to point out why is a minor being messaged by a school or district staff? Red flag. Second . This may be conservative of me but why are the parents not getting involved from the beginning. Like don't call or text my kids without my supervision. Third and last I wanna know how she got where she is? I did my senior project on being a principal. I will say I half assed it. But even I know how to follow protocols. Always have a third party that can be. Non biased. Like having having a female during a male Dr examine a female patient. To be honest can I ask why does anyone care about this. I had a teacher turn on the AC in the winter to have the girls nipples perk up😂 It was a true running joke at my school

She has a Kim Jong Un mentality. She wants absolute power even over people's expression. I had some similar experience. Once I adopted a cute puppy from the street. The daughter of my then school headmaster saw that puppy and demanded that I give her the puppy (Named Harry). I refused. She went to her father and complained about me. And her father told me that If I don't give her what she wants, he will deduct my interview number from class exams. Fortunately my father is a lawyer and when I told him about it, he went to school and had a long conversation with the Headmaster. He never bothered me again. My father is a Hero. Love you Dad.

Not really. A superintendent’s contract usually last for a school year and then renewed at the end of the school year. We had a superintendent who was fired during the school year a few years ago at our school district. She was technically on administrative leave for the rest of the year. According to her contract she couldn’t get officially fired until the contract expired at the end of the school year. She still got benefits for the rest of the school year according to the contract. In this case it was probably same. They probably fired her in November but labeled it administrative leave. They waited to officially fired her when the contract was up. The school district doesn’t need to buy out the contract. They had to wait until the contract expired.

I'm not defending her actions at all, but have you not seen the news of Caucasian male superintendents making huge faux pas as well? This is not about race, DEI, etc. There are horrible people from all cultures.
