@philippinefederalistreview74772 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the honest feedback many of the interviewees give about life in the Philippines. I also appreciate the fact that many, if not most, of them come from cultures where INDIVIDUAL SELF-OWNERSHIP AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY are emphasized. While every culture has its pros and cons depending on local conditions, this focus on INDIVIDUAL INITIATIVE is a much welcome contribution to HUMAN CAPITAL in the Philppines. I vlog about the vanishing Filipino middle class and how certain policies led to Pinoy poverty. But one can't underestimate the power of VALUES in producing outcomes. It is my hope that more and more expats come to the Philippines to offset (in a small way) the exodus of the middle class and contribute to the 'values conversation' - don't think for a moment that all Pinoys consider foreigners 'criticizing' the local situation is a bad thing. Many of us need this to focus on what needs to be done.

The usual silicon gulch story. Go on an interview, get a job was so easy in those days, and work 80 to 100 hours a week for 35 years. No need to go home. I worked starting in the mid 70's at Fairchild, AMD, Intel in Mountain View, Santa Clara and San Jose and others. No time for any decent relationship as everyone just works and goes home to do the same grind. I had enough and moved to Auburn out in the woods. Put up a greenhouse myself. Sold everything and now waiting back in San Jose to go to the Philippines. Nice to hear from someone who has a parallel life and career. I never partook in my product either and wasn't in love with it. So true that the heavies who grow absolutely do LOVE the green. What a trip!
