I appreciate the honest feedback many of the interviewees give about life in the Philippines. I also appreciate the fact that many, if not most, of them come from cultures where INDIVIDUAL SELF-OWNERSHIP AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY are emphasized. While every culture has its pros and cons depending on local conditions, this focus on INDIVIDUAL INITIATIVE is a much welcome contribution to HUMAN CAPITAL in the Philppines. I vlog about the vanishing Filipino middle class and how certain policies led to Pinoy poverty. But one can't underestimate the power of VALUES in producing outcomes. It is my hope that more and more expats come to the Philippines to offset (in a small way) the exodus of the middle class and contribute to the 'values conversation' - don't think for a moment that all Pinoys consider foreigners 'criticizing' the local situation is a bad thing. Many of us need this to focus on what needs to be done.

Lol, I lived in Xenia, at 16 in the late 70s I was looking for a way to leave. Ended up in the Army. Came back to Ohio after 10 years, lasted for 3 years quit that job left and never went back. I was stationed in Japan for 3 years loved it, was "adopted" by my Filipino co workers, loved it.

The usual silicon gulch story. Go on an interview, get a job was so easy in those days, and work 80 to 100 hours a week for 35 years. No need to go home. I worked starting in the mid 70's at Fairchild, AMD, Intel in Mountain View, Santa Clara and San Jose and others. No time for any decent relationship as everyone just works and goes home to do the same grind. I had enough and moved to Auburn out in the woods. Put up a greenhouse myself. Sold everything and now waiting back in San Jose to go to the Philippines. Nice to hear from someone who has a parallel life and career. I never partook in my product either and wasn't in love with it. So true that the heavies who grow absolutely do LOVE the green. What a trip!

This interview, the man easily moved forward coping with the issue and seems to have a laid back attitude that will serve him very well in the Philippines. Lesson well learned. Great Job. Agreed. And I just entered Phils yesterday. I think the Philippines Dept.of Health, who manage the required OneHealthPass, has been hacked. Somebody has stolen foreigner email addresses & is scamming them. I didn't fall for it, like this guy. Yes, lots of patience is needed to live there. This is someone who was born there and lived there, who visit from time to time. Anthony is correct as we all know.

@@everymanhasastory He did mention it but I couldn’t understand what he said. Something like “try wic”. I tried googling but couldn’t find.

. I accidentally signed up on that fake one health path website and threatened to cancel my credit card it's a sinister link posing as a government entity of the Philippines. I got refunded immediately. Please take note everyone the one health pass is FREE If you got on to the sinister link that's asking your credit card exit out you're on the wrong website. Good luck everyone

Hey Anthony, layover in Seoul? I was looking at that but I was being told even just a layover in Seoul was not acceptable for Californian even though fully vaxxed.
