I like the interview

My grandfather came to the Philippines in 1939 fall in love with my grandmother (a dentist) got out of the US Army core Engineer and worked in the US owned construction company. He was a prisoner of war during WWII. Because my grandmother was a dentist she was able to visit my grandfather. War experiences was never talked about or discuss. My grandfather was tortured for refusing to build airfield and permanently damaged his right leg. My Grandfather loves the Philippines. He was able to give us a good life in the Philippines.

The longer Jim spoke, the younger he got. I could listen to him for hours. Great interview!

So amused with this interview as Jim has lived here in the country for a long time. His naval (military) background is rich in experience despite his medical condition and disability. Truly admire his determination in life to continue working amidst the various challenges. So interesting to hear his venture in real estate industry, logistics and so many other ventures. He's really a smart man, never stops delving into more productive ways to do business. Amazing guy!

This guy has had an amazing past. I was really impressed when he mentioned he was also an RN Psych... A feat not easily obtained! He should be interviewed again.

In Pampanga I have heard about American servicemen who stayed when Clark air base was closed.

I had a friend who died at 52 from complications caused by agent orange. Very serious stuff that affected millions of our enlisted.

What a great guy, reminds me of my dad never stops thinking or working and he’s 80.

Mark I have to admire this man so knowledgeable..He is around my age so I can relate to him he has had a good life and i hope he enjoys many more years 👍👍

Hi Mark, you have interviewed some very astute gentlemen on your channel from time to time. Jim, is one of them, i'm amazed at Jim's excellent memory for detail going way back and recent activity. I'm 82yo on May 30, and from Jim's Navy service, i'm picking he is up there in my age group. I think Jim is a good man with a good brain. I'm impressed, and, one day would look forward to meeting Jim in person when i return to Cebu permanently in a couple of short years. Bob. Veteran Soldier. NZ.

I can’t believe that I already finish watching the whole video. It feels like it was so short. I enjoy listening to his story bcoz he haven’t able to witness and experience what it feels like and how Philippines look like then. The country wasn’t that much progressive but we’re thankful of its improvements from all those years up to this day. I hope it will continue to improve.

Amazing inspirational Story . Could probably do a book.

My wife has fond memories of the Navy communications station there in San Antonio. She grew up just down the road in San Narciso in the 60s. Her mother was the local ombudsman for the community to the base. They would have many of the officers, including the CO, over for meals at their home. It is now the main training facility for the Philippine Navy. When we ride the Victory Liner back from Olongapo and see the base we know we are close to home.

PS. The first book this guy should get self published is HIS LIFE STORY, and this great interview proves it! The final chapter should be: "Why you should hire a lawyer First before bringing Pinay Wife to America."

An interesting story. I was a Radioman in the Philippines in 1970-71. After then I made many WESTPAC cruises with port visits to Subic Bay until 1991.

Great Story, I always enjoy a story that starts with the Navy brought me to the Philippines because that was how I got there the first time in 72.

That was a very interesting interview. It seemed to have gotten cut off rather abruptly though. He was a talker but very interesting. I hope you can track him down again, I’ll bet he’s got stories for days. 4 Ex’s. I love it. I’ll bet he’s looking for number 5 now. Anyway mark. Great interview!

He had a STEMI (ST Elevated Myocardial Infarction), which is the most deadliest form of heart attack, which I had myself in 2017. That's why it is nicknamed "The Widowmaker." Anyhoo, we are both survivors and good to see you still looking sprite sir! Retired Navy myself and was stationed at NAS Cubi Point from 1990 until we all closed down shop in 1992. Currently riding out a few more years with the Culinary Union here in Vegas and retire again and chase the sunset back to the Pee Eye.

Great interview. Super impressive guy. I enjoyed some of his perspectives on PH. I was here first in 72, lived three years 1974 -82 in bits, then back most years. Here permanently since 2006 (except one year in Afghanistan). Luckily not 4 wives, but one since 74. She became a senior Navy civilian in Hawaii. I'd never trade in a GI (Genuine Ilocana) wife. I'd love to hear more from Jim. Thanks

This was a great video, and I think Jim was very interesting. His career is great. Reminds me of mine in some ways. I live in the Philippines after visiting here for 9 years. I'm now a permanent resident and rent a house in Cebu to stay flexible. I served in the US Army in the 1970s (82nd Airborne Div.), retired twice from the US Air Force in 1998 and 2005 working on development and production of our most advance and complex nuclear and aerospace weapon systems, was a defense contractor for a number of years doing the same, then hired by the Department of Defense in 2005 working as a Senior Program Manger and other functions for another 15 years, retiring for the 3rd time in Dec 2020 with 43 years of service. I was also an International Politico-Military Affairs Officer for the Air Force and Pentagon, Professor of Government and National Security Affairs at the U.S. Air Force Academy when I completed my Ph.D., and professor of Defense & Aerospace Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. I had many other nuclear and conventional assignments. I'm not bored yet, I've been writing, staying connected with DoD, and trying to relax. I really need a vacation.
