You kept my attention!!!! I’m so glad I came across you! As a converted acrylic to watercolor a year 1/2 ago I’ve been having a blast learning this wonderful new world !! At first I struggled because I was still a bit stuck in the acrylic world. I look back at those paintings , which were actually greeting cards that sold!!! But they didn’t know the difference. lol It was family members so it’s ok. But I’ve learned how to loosen up, use the paper as one of my main light sources especially for my greeting cards at Christmas! I’ve been learning all kinds of different styles and have to say I love them all but this California Vibe style has been a desire of mine due to the fact that I love the outcome of the finished product made from using a splash of this color and a stroke of that color! This abstract looks of portraits is brilliant!! Thank you for coming to KZfaq!! I will be sharing!!! Blessings to you and I loved that you used the word faith as far as just have faith in your colors. My business is called “Full of grace designs” .I have MS and since my left hand ( which is not my dominant hand) thank God, I’ve had to give up making my jewelry.I also did polymer clay miniatures, worked with resin and anything I could create with my hands that God created me with. I’m selling everything except my paints and and everything to aid in my painting!! I’m my happier now that I’ve narrowed my crafts down to the art of painting because this is my true desire!! I painted a piece after watching Mike Jackson ,one of his wonderful whimsical house scenes and learning his colors that he uses was the hardest part ,so needless to say the piece turned out better than I thought. Now I get to paint something from your brilliant artistic mind!

Well dang! I remember our conversation then about online art teaching. I would love to talk with you again and maybe online (yet another thing I need to learn!). I went to your website. You have so much to offer. Wow! Currently, of course, several of my traveling workshops have been deep sixed with others perhaps in jeopardy. This situation has helped to propel me into the online teaching arena. I just began to teach myself how to produce my own videos on iMovie. I am also about to get an online site at Teachable.com. Wee need to talk, so that I can pick your brain clean! What say?

Great video! I really respond to your technique! You mentioned the type of paint and brush you prefer but what about the paper? I find Arches 100% cotton cold press 300 g/m, 140 lb. to be rough for getting smooth edges. Please advise, oh wise one!!

Trying to get back to painting/ art. Was kind of traumatizing in college graphic design classes, so haven't painted in awhile! Hopefully I can get back into art. Thank you for tutorial! Do you ever add ink or color pencil to paintings?

Hi David, my name is Sydney, I am a digital artistic @82 it is my hobby that keeps me busy. I am a major fan, I use many of your paintings as references. I also paint portraits, with "bold colors". My biggest problem, is finding, a color palette of bold colors. Is there anywhere I can find, a palette of the basic, bold colors that you use? Thanks,
@DavidLobenberg10 ай бұрын
I primarily watercolor with five colors only: Opera Red, Crimson Red, Cadmium Yellow Light, Halo blue green shade, and Cobalt Blue. With these five colors, one can mix hundreds more!

@@DavidLobenbergThank you for your reply, like I said, I am a digital artist, using mainly Artrage 6, I was thinking more of a color palette, rather than mixing colours, which I do not the ability to do.

I'm a one man band learning a set of digital skill sets that I thought were beyond my ability, but not so! I'm learning, and its exciting! I have about five lessons I need to produce and a website to set up. So glad you aren't in a hurry. Stay tuned!
