BERKELEY, Calif. - Yvonne Ejim scored 21 points and Brynna Maxwell scored 18 points and 23rd-ranked Gonzaga took control in overtime to beat California 78-70 on Thursday night.

Ejim finished shooting 9-for-19 and Maxwell was 6-for-17 overall but made 5-for-11 inside the arc. Kayleigh Truong scored 14 points and Kaylynne Truong distributed 12 assists against just three turnovers.
The Bears outscored the Zags in the first quarter, 17-13, as Kayleigh Truong and Ejim both recorded four points apiece for GU. Cal continued its scoring efforts in the second quarter by outscoring GU 17-15 to take the 34-28 lead going into the locker rooms.
Kayleigh Truong had 10 points in the first half with Ejim and Maxwell right behind her with six. The Zags shot at 25.6 percent as Cal recording 44.4 percent from the floor. The Zags outrebounded the Bears, 27-20 with Kayleigh Truong, Calli Stokes and Ejim all grabbing four.
The Zags picked up the offense in the third quarter and outscored Cal, 20-13. Ejim led the way with six points as GU shot at 57.1 percent from the floor.
Maxwell scored seven of GU's 17 points in the final quarter as Kayleigh Truong's bucket sent the game into overtime.
The Zags never trailed in the extra time and outscored Cal 13-5 to secure the road win, which was started by a three-pointer by Stokes 30 seconds into overtime. Eliza Hollingsworth also hit a three while Ejim responded with a lay-up in the final minute. The Bulldogs closed out OT by going 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Overall, Gonzaga outrebounded Cal, 45-37, with both Ejim and Stokes grabbing nine rebounds each. The Zags also only committed seven turnovers, compared to Cal's 14. GU scored 20 points off of Cal's miscues and scored 26 points inside the paint.
Records: Kaylynne Truong had a career-high 12 assists with only three turnovers on the night.
Yvonne Ejim scored at least 20 points for the seventh game this season. She currently has scored in double digits for 17-straight games, dating back to last season.
Gonzaga moves to 9-2 on the season while Cal drops to 8-2. This was the first contest between the two programs.
