As the cost of wildfires, water shortages and crop failures increase perhaps this idea will have a following: Every year the Missouri and Mississippi rivers flood hundreds of cities and farms across the Midwest causing millions in damage. Why not build large pipelines to pump that floodwater to the drought prone Southwest?
@Bellathebear7773 жыл бұрын
Send that water to the Colorado river, & then further south..... But then that means the Govs would have a real plan. Then again, That would take time away from Giving a lobbyist a birthday party.
@RA-fotog233 жыл бұрын
I suggested this 15 years ago and was told it was not "environmentally feasible" due to contaminated runoff which could enter lakes, streams and rivers. It would require huge water reclamaition to filter large volume contaminated flood water. We do not have these at this time and cannot dump it into the Colorado River due to environmental regulations. Any comments or indights???

@@RA-fotog23 Hello R A, One idea is once the excess water is flowing downhill large settling ponds could be constructed to let contaminated water either to settle where they could be dredged out or filters of various kinds could also be used.

Oh, please, spare us the excuses! PG&E is responsible for not maintaining their SIXTY PLUS year old wires that stretch the length of California and are breaking and falling into the UNMAINTAINED forests. but don't make it rain when we CAN?Cloud seeding, the main type of intentional weather modification, began in the late 1940s. The basic idea was to use aircraft or rockets to inject silver iodide or another substance into the atmosphere to mimic ice nuclei. The amount of rain or snow a cloud can produce depends on a balance between the number of ice nuclei inside it and the amount of water available to grow around those nuclei. Clouds often lack naturally occurring ice nuclei, so injecting them with silver iodide particles (which are very similar in structure to ice) increases the number of nuclei. This makes the clouds more efficient at generating ice crystals that either fall as snowflakes or melt to produce raindrops, depending on temperatures in and beneath the cloud. Cloud seeding is also used to disperse fog banks near some airports.

The USA made great infrastructure, before: In 1913 the 233m the LA Aqueduct opened and The Colorado Aqueduct is 242m long (5 pumping stations) opened 1939. China`s new aqueduct is 716m with 23 pumping stations... A tunnel, no land cost. Make a relative small diameter (cheap/fast to make) tunnel, because if water move fast, it need a smaller tunnel, to move an amount of water.
