Loved the detail that the Japanese announcer refers to the Americans as savages. Really shows that developers really did do a small thing called research back then.

They went from having soundbites of Hitler in a CoD game to almost completely denying that Germany was a fascist regime during the WWII era in just a few short years. Really shows how quickly the culture has changed to where it is now insensitive to even show the Nazis in a historical scope. Well, to the video gaming industry anyway. The new Sniper Elite game finally added swastikas though, which was honestly quite refreshing. Not saying I love the symbol, but it is synonymous with the aggression that started World War Two. To exclude it is assinine.

Funny that Wehrmacht victory theme 2 is Hitler's speech saying "Before us lies Germany, within us marches Germany, and behind us comes Germany.".

Man, back when the announcers got you straightup *pumped* to give it your everything. Victories felt earned, Defeats felt deserved, and Draws felt crushing. How did it get so dull and boring, sometimes even downright insulting? Oh right, because of greed, ignorance and exhaustion.

The vibe and atmosphere of this game was something else. Dark and gritty. Grounded and raw. It wasn't just a game. It was an experience. Like watching an amazing movie or reading a great book.

The Wehrmacht themes go so hard

To this day, bar some very specific cases, the Wehrmacht and Soviet announcers are still to this day my favourite. Wehrmacht dude is savage and so enthusiastic, while Reznov is just the best. Plus I love it playing Der Koingsgraschmartch (I think that how it is spelt) and the Soviet Anthem.

This really really impacted me with the atmosphere back in the day. I like how each of the factions have dirty and angry vibes to them which really showcases the unapologetic brutality of WWII

It would be funny if one of the German defeat lines was just the sound of a gunshot and a body hitting the floor.

The German announcer is just something else. You can really tell he's enjoying this (not that the others don't) and his "VICTORY BELONGS TO GERMANY" line brings me so much joy.

There's something so eerie about these sounds. Fits the WaW theme perfectly, but hearing the cheerful Germany victory theme after seeing people explode, gibbed, and overall torn apart is really eerie, same thing for the marching sounds.

Ive replayed waw god knows how many times. And it is a game that always amazes me, you always find a design choice, detail, just anything that shows this game was passionately worked on. The artwork, soundtrack, visuals, the aesthetic, the gameplay, everything I expect out of the final two title cards explaining WW2 was as it is, the most destructive conflict that had ever grazed the earth and it’s wounds still hold marks on us today.

I think the European front "War" sounds are so underrated. It's the same lady's vocalization as the title to the game, and it's so haunting. It gives off the vibe of a bombed out battlefield littered with corpses being picked at by birds.

My Favorite line will always be "VICTORY BELONGS TO GERMANY!" Fucking love the delivery of that line
