What are the sources of error in this experiment?? Please share
@AllLabExperiments
@AllLabExperiments 3 жыл бұрын
This is a slow experiment so you have to keep patience when the temperature changes because of change in flow. the flow of water should also be controlled with delicacy super slow like an adiabatic process. the temperature diff between two thermometers should be equal for this experiment which generally students don't care but it is the core concept of this experiment Other than this, No leakage and proper connections are just some basic instructions.

No DC source so that it is easy to calculate dissipated heat. You can perform this using AC as well but then the expression would bea little different

Can this exp be used for other liquids?
@AllLabExperiments
@AllLabExperiments 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be but we have to change the value of specific heat. In this formula we have used this for water as 4.2 Joule per K per gram. Just you need to change this value.

How do we apply a correction for the law of heat due to radiation?
@AllLabExperiments
@AllLabExperiments 3 жыл бұрын
generally we believe that the radiated heat is much less than the heat taken by the water coz from outside it is insulated to cause minimum error. 2nd we perform this experiment 2 times for different flow rates but same temp differences and then equate them. This over all ensures that the dissipation part cancels out from both sides of the equation.

Why should the flow rate be less than 1 cc/sec written in step 1??
@AllLabExperiments

Because it should get ample time to absorb the heat at very first place otherwise the results are not gonna be accurate.

How do we maintain constant pressure?
@AllLabExperiments
@AllLabExperiments 3 жыл бұрын
Your outlet is free and open so you need not to maintain pressure. It will remain constant by default. and the minute variation will not change anything because the used liquid is not that much compressible. If this experiment would have done with the gases then you this would have been a considerable issue.

Why temperature different should not more than 10C?
@AllLabExperiments
@AllLabExperiments 3 жыл бұрын
If temp diff is more than 10 degrees it means the wire inside is heated too much or the flow of water is quite low. In both cases, the dissipation of heat in its surrounding increases and which as a result increases the chances of error.

@@AllLabExperiments how the flow of water become low?
@AllLabExperiments
@AllLabExperiments 3 жыл бұрын
@@ritikpawar5893 You set the flow of water in this experiment using a screw based pinch. If you make it tight very less water flows and as a result water gets more time to get heat from the heated wire and hence its temperature increases more at the outlet.
