He finished 1980s mode (a side mode with ten other rivals featuring Ayano's mom as the protagonist), meaning he finished an entirely different Yandere Simulator before he finished Yandere Simulator.

Thank you! This character really bothered me for many reasons. I’m not a nurse or in the medical field, but I can recognize qualities nurses need. I swear, he based this character off of Mikan Tsumiki from Dangonronpa 2, but took everything good about her like her professionalism, intelligence, ability to stay calm when doing her job and threw it out in favourite of more fan service.

For real, though, nurses are super underappreciated and underpaid. They deserve WAY more respect than they get; they are taken for granted WAY too often. All hail the algorithm!

I actually remember watching a true crime vid where the nurse, who was being pursued by a hitman, but she ended up surviving because she was taught basic self defense as a result of her ER experience. Edit: I think that implementation-wise I think that if the player tries to kill Haruka, depending on their method, Haruka would still survive, and she would be able to apprehend the player character.

Finaly someone talks about how she dresses and how it's not appropriate for her job! I have heard so many horror stories from my mom how formally workd at the front desk at a hospital! Thank you!

My mom has been a nurse for over a decade now and this character irritated the hell out of me. Edit: on the subject of how easy it is for nurses to get in trouble, my mother once told me that in the even she was present at the scene of an accident her employers said she would not be allowed to render aid, because it would put her and her hospital at risk of a lawsuit My mom finally left the nursing field last year after having been harassed and mistreated by her last doctor. This woman constantly talked about her behind her back and generally didn't like my mom because she was a lazy doctor who honestly put her patients at risk and my mom didn't let her get away with it.

These redesigned characters make me want to play this imaginary game where senpai looks cuter and the story has more depth and the faculty aren’t weirdos 🧍🏾‍♀️ but alas I must dream

You actually being trained in this industry has made this redesign even more entertaining! I learned a few interesting things, even though a lotta them I knew already from my own job ^-^

A light novel in game format like Doki Doki and such would be amazing with these designs and characters. It doesnt require nearly as much effort like anything requiring lots of coding and rendering and 3d work, and it allows for so much freedom to tell a story like this. I hope someone takes on the project fully and breaks the Yandere Sim curse.

Here’s a little Idea/Headcanon for a scenario this week During lunch time you start to take a bite out of your lunch all of a sudden you realized that you forgot to wash your hands. You’re walking out of the bathroom and on your way to eat with [the number of rivals you’ve befriended] you walk by the nurses office. I headcanon that the nurse uses lunch time as a break to clean her office. As you walk by, she opens the door to clean the handles. Yan-Chan takes a breath and smells the cleaner, rubbing alcohol, and the sickly smell of all the fluids as if they were stirred together in a flask. It ticks off something in her brain and reminds her off every time she simply took a breath in the psych ward. She starts to hyperventilate, feel nauseous towards its stench, and almost regurgitates out the food she ate before she cleansed her hands. She starts running towards the toilet trying her best not to vomit in the middle of the hallway. Senpai sees her and wonders what she’s running for or from. He sees her cheeks puffed out on the sides of her face and puts two and two together that she needs to throw up. He follows her to the toilet not giving a damn it’s the wrong gendered toilet. And there she was vomiting, probably everything that she’s eaten in a day and a half. He tries to ask her what happened and the only words she’s drooling out are stuff about the nurses office and the psych ward. He talks you down and shares some good advice on how to calm down. The nurse walks out to check what happened after hearing a stampede of footsteps. She sees Senpai holding Yan-Chan’s hands and giving her some exercises to relieve herself. All she saw were a boy helping a girl feel better probably after vomiting some pretty bad food. But what really happened was a boy helping a girl relieve herself from the PTSD of the psych ward. So basically, if the nurse sees you around Senpai more, the less she’s willing to suspect you of being form a psych ward and sending you back. Based on seeing how well Senpai can relieve you after having a really bad throw up session. [edit: oh my gosh that is long! Also sorry if some of the backstory is wrong, I haven’t watched the first episodes of the series in a long time]

I'm not done with the vid yet, but hearing you talk about being able to keep secrets reminds me of my school nurse. I go to a gifted program school and a lot of us have anxiety and other mental issues due to the workload. Ive gone to the nurse multiple times, mostly because my first response to anxiety is to scratch at myself, and covering my arm with bandages was a bit of a must when you're literally bleeding from it. He lets me vent to him even if I don't have a reason to be there but makes sure I get back to class. He even got upset with the school because they've denied my request multiple times for larger bandaids, instead of making him have to wrap it and inevitably waste more supplies. He's a very sweet nurse and a lot of students rely on him, I was mad with the nurse character before because my moms is a nurse, and I did catch on to the nail polish and am happy you pointed it out.

I like how you made a nurse, someone who is assosiated with caring and sort of comfort, really intiminating and a threat for the main character, nice subversion of expectations there!

I always find it very interesting when professionals of a certain career or subject, give their professional takes on something that most people would never normally know or think about. Even though nursing or anything in the medical field isn’t really my thing, ( I’m too squeamish for anything like that, so it’s great people want to do things I’d never do ) I still find it very fascinating to learn about things like that

Yandere Dev's characters honestly feel like parody versions of your redesigns that you'd see in 5-minute Newgrounds animations. This is beyond just fixing something bad, you've re-ignited the fire from 6-7 years ago. Massive props.

I've been thinking a little bit about Raibaru and most people who make videos of redesighs leave her as she is or make her be Osana's suitor, but in my conception this doesn't completely remove the problem, some people made nice changes explaining that Raibaru would be lighter and not as invincible, but not all of them explain this part well, and Calli always explains how the character would be implemented, so I thought of a solution that would be very suitable for Rei Chan, in case Calli decide to do something with Raibaru. Raibaru could be Rei Chan's older sister, that would be a good excuse to be so close to her since Rei Chan is a first year, so maybe Raibaru feels responsible for being her older sister, so she would spend a few moments with Rei Chan, but her sense of responsibility makes her more alert. She wouldn't be invincible and wouldn't be with Rei all the time, but the moments when she would be around would be dangerous for the player, in a simpler way because Rei is supposed to be the first rival and the easiest. That's the idea I had to make Raibaru if Calli decide to work on her, and because Rei is in her first year and with everything that happened with Senpai, Raibaru would feel that she need to take care of her little sister for at least the first year in the new school, for me that would be a reasonable reason to be around and be so strong and alert even in routine situations, but not in an invincible way. It would also make sense if she suspected that something is wrong because of the Stalker, she might not know everything, but she would know that something is not right with her sister.

I love this so much, the design is not sexualised at all and packed full of facts that to be honest, or don't actually predict and everything was so well thought out! Thank you for this redesign :)

I saw the nurses redesign on Instagram and I'm already in love with her design so this is gonna be GOOD✨ Edit- through I haven't fully watched it yet... This makes me realise how little yandere dev cares about good character design and development.. I feel like as he is someone who creates characters he should do proper research on things and not make up his own canon for the real world.. That's one of the reasons his "characters" aren't characters, because they don't give that emotion we need to connect with certain characters... All his characters offer is just looking pretty and nothing else.He doesn't even put in a little effort in making the characters actually relatable and likeable

This is genuinely such a good video, highly agree w/ everything you're saying. I'm a first-year pharm student and I fear my friends who are nursing majors because they're some of the smartest, most capable, hard-working people that I know, and the fact that Muja is just, a stupid airhead? Is completely inaccurate

My grandmother was a nurse for decades for the elderly and then for the mentally ill, my sister in law is a nurse aid. People really don't realize the mental fortitude and intelligence as well as physical fortitude you have to have just to do the standard job, let alone all the surprises that can come up during just one shift. Nurses are probably some of the most badass people out there, and I hope that gets recognized more. Love your character design, Callimara, great take and I loved all the information!

So in a nutshell, Yandev has no idea what the actual hell he's doing, and that Muja's official design completely breaks suspension of disbelief due to amounting to a [CERTAIN BREAD BRAND] in a sexy nurse Halloween costume. I really enjoy these redesign rants of yours, they're interesting and informative, as well as rational.

The pacifist route really makes me smile, the characters being there for each other is really heartwarming. ❤

Something to consider for the nurse, game play wise, is that you could probably try to make the mental toll less severe if you start to adopt a more planning mindset. Like for example, you could have an option that mentions the smell of the nurse's office is very overwhelming and you would like to meet elsewhere, possibly outside. Rather than dreading and waiting for her to seek you out, you could plan times to meet to make them more convenient for your stress levels or more advantageous (like say you can only meet with Senpai during select times, and unless you plan with her and keep up on the meetings, she may take up those finite resources). Something to make the Manipulate Route or Imperfect Friendship Routes easier (not a lot, but just barely).

i've heard that people don't like Muja because she is a "grown woman" in love with a high school boy. I think that yandev should've made her a teenage nurse in training, that would explain the air-head personality. Maybe she would ask taro to volunteer to help in her training! love your art, btw great art-style!

The thing about this is that what she's saying is super accurate. I don't expect less from Cali because she does her research and she is going to school to be a nurse. While I am just a highschooler, my school has a magnet program and nursing is apart of it. Never have I ever seen any of my classmates dress like Muja. Not just for the dress code but also because it's just not practical.

Honestly, the fact that YandereDev was so quickly able to "finish" the game and make so many rivals is telling to the fact that he most certainly has been milking the game during Osana's whole development

The description of the original nurse is the same a Blissy (A Pokemon) in an episode of Pokemon, but that was excused since it was clear the Blissy had just barely made it through the classes, and she wasn't as dumb as people thought she was. (Yeah, it's still inaccurate to real nurses, but the fact that it's a Pokemon nurse that helps Pokemon heal helps delude the ludicrous.) And the Pokemon learns to be more responsible and less of a klutz.)

I can imagine an end credits scene for the best ending after Himari goes back to the ward, where all the befriended rivals each visit her and maybe give her a little gift that symbolizes the positive thing they taught her and ends with Senpai being the last person to visit her and they have a wholesome moment together

I spent the entire July in hospital (brain tumor removal) and I can think of lots of fun stuff that the nurses did without even being Close to yandevs version. I had my 22nd Birthday in hospital and a nurse saw I was getting upset close to it, so she said she's not allowed to have her nails painted, but if I wanted she could paint mine if my mum brings in the varnish on my birthday. I had red hand nails and gold toenails was great--- The only clumsy thing I remember happening was (TMI WARNING) I couldn't use my legs in the beginning so I had a catheter in (I hated it the entire time). A nurse came over to empty it but he didn't notice the bag was damaged and it fell on his shoes and spilt. Thats IT- I apologised a bunch and he said it wasn't my fault so not to worry about it. But if the nurses were running around spilling stuff or running with the obs machine or the needles for blood tests it would be TERRIFYING-- I was on the neuro ward so everyone there had a brain issue and it was A Lot- seizures and peoples limbs stopping working because of the brain issues or patients experiencing psychosis (I have bpd with physchosis so that's the only time I tried to help as the woman was convinced the blood clot stomach injection was poison and the nurses had guns and she was TERRIFIED and tried to escape through the fire door) We had so much serious shit going on and the yandev nurse would be destroyed---

You probably know this but it's likely the traditional white nurse uniforms originated from the ability to boil white linen and give it a good scrub without worrying about the colours running. That's why a lot of antique undergarments and aprons were white, they were washed every day to save ruining expensive clothes. Affordable, stable, heat resistant dyes are a fairly modern invention.

Even though I actually enjoy Yandere Simulator, I think I would enjoy the game even more if it was like your perspective, like, 1000 times more. I love this story because I love your designs, the depth to all characters, theres a motive for YanChan for loving him, rather than *"I BUMPED INTO HIM AND NOW I LOVE HIM."* The story is very interesting and theres a lot of realistic aspects that make this very enjoyable to watch, and imagine it as a real thing. Even though its just a concept, I would love to see this as an actual day sometime in the future. Keep it up!!!

I like this series. It's a much more intelligent way to create rivals. They have different reasons to be a potencial threat, not simply all of them falling in love with senpai for whatever reason. They even feel more like rivals, because it's much more personal level than being interested in the same guy.

It's so satisfying seeing an actual nurse talk about yan-dev's inaccurate nurse character and point out its flaws. this video also helps to clear up any misconceptions people might have about nursing and it made me appreciate it even more! :) I might even use these facts to create an accurate nurse oc myself, amazing video as always💕

I think it would be sort of building on how every rival teaches her something theme if Yan-chan could choose paths that help her regain a trust in medical professionals and building on from the teacher in learning that adults can and will help her. I know that from personal experience that one bad therapist can make you never want to go again but one good therapist can help turn your life around. Yan-chan will need that trust in medical staff to really get the good ending.

As someone who has both parents in the nursing profession, just one look at the nurse outfit, and I knew that yandere dev most likely just looked up "nurse outfit" and saw the first few results were Halloween costumes and said "ah yes, this is how nurses dress." It's such a difficult field to work in, even if you're just the nurse at a high school. And that's something that yandere dev probably didn't even think about because he just wanted "innocent, sexy nurse" like the troll he is

I was also confused about the nurse's design, given that many parts of her seemed hazardpus/disadvantageous for nurses to have.

As the daughter of a registered nurse Who also has a nurse for an aunt And a grandma who is a nurse currently working at schools with kids that have special needs and need a nurse there to help them for the whole day The original nurse pissed me off so much I’ve seen all the nursing stuff my family has to do and I grew up while my mom was in nursing school Heck she used to get to to fall asleep by reading from her text book to me Seeing my mom head our to work from 6am to 4-5pm and knowing how hard her days can be and hearing all the stories about patients and stuff that happened from my mom and grandma made me understand that nursing is not an easy job Seeing the yandere sim nurse made me think yandev had never even seen a nurse before She looks more like a 20 something going to a Halloween party dressed as a sexy nurse When I read the part saying her intelligence isn’t her strongest aspect I remembered my moms text books when she was studying and all the shit she talks about doing at work And just HOW!? Nurses do more physical demand work than doctors and they study more too. I had this friend who was a nurse and a doctor was prescribing a patient medicine, the nurse spoke up afterwards and told the doctor to prescribe a different one because it was an incorrect prescription, the doctor refused and very soon after that the patient was dead!

I think you could still have like a scene where sempai opends the door and says his friend forgot something in- and she hits him by accident with her spinning stethoscope.

I feel like if she was more of a “traditional rival” (someone who has a crush on senpai) I think she would be a student like senpai instead who is following and learning from the actual nurse at the school. And I think her relationship with senpai would be this: she usually hangs out with senpai in the nurses office because he often gets hurt at his house or just training. During these times they grow closer and Muja eventually asked him where all of his injuries come from, he tells her the truth and they grow closer and closer together and eventually she falls Inlove with him

During the sketch phase it took me a bit to realise she's swinging the stethoscope and, infact, does not have a eyeball or lollipop on a stick

"Working 8 hour shifts in the hospital unpaid" aaaaaaahhhh I do not miss that at all.....yet I'm studying my RNs next year and doing more placements Also not sure what state you're in but a lil correction on the nursing training, to be an assistant it's a 6 month course at TAFE, for EN's like myself it's an 18 month diploma also at TAFE then the RN is the 3 year course (or 2 if you're doing a conversion like me).

i've been admitted into the hospital so many times for surgeries, so nurses are a common thing for me. i certainly wouldn't be happy if a dumb, clumsy nurse was taking care of me. i would want someone like this nurse. i like someone to joke around with, especially in the hospital, so this is definitely one of my favorite redesigns.

I'm a medical secretary with one friend who is an LPN and another studying to be an RN, and it brings me so much joy hearing someone talking about how important the uniform is needed! Even as a secretary I needed s o m a n y pockets, specifically for my notebook. If I didn't, my doctor would lecture me and why my outfit didn't have them. 😵 I used to have nights where I'd wake up from a deep sleep wondering if referrals or medications were sent by the doctor. Needle prep, disinfecting, needing a fair amount of knowledge with medical terms, I surprisingly needed those as a secretary too. I appreciate nurses so much, and I hope your workplacements and schooling goes well!

Bro- in my school (In US) we had a "School Nurse" but she was just the receptionist and had never even gotten close to being at medical college or uni. (We were the only school in our district AND county... small small small town, but they could get away with it.) She was nice and all, but as a student with growing mental health issues it was always hard for me to like her. "Oh, you're having a panic attack? Here, lay down for half an hour while I go back to my desk to see if you get better." I'm also a born asthmatic who needs to carry my medication at all time, so she would blame it on that too. She was really just playing a dangerous guessing game. I feel bad for her though, she's only a receptionist and she has to deal with all ages of minors. In short, School receptionist go "oof" Cannot wait to see more though! I'm loving this!

What's funniest to me is that as I was about a third of the way into the video, I suddenly thought, "Wow, she looks pretty!" then after that I realized that the lineart wasnt even done and somehow she still looked more attractive (in my opinion) than the original version ever did.

I love that the Teacher is basically the game going into hard mode, so maybe you’re relieved when you pass the teach, but then you’re in the nurse’s office and REAL hard mode starts XD The idea similar to how YanSim has word bubbles around Ayano’s mind when she visits the counselor happening talking to the nurse came to mind, like she asks a question and the player has to choose an answer that won’t decrease your mental sanity nor tip off the nurse... Thatd be so interesting!

I can somewhat understand the whole being underestimated for your job choice thing. I'm personally hoping to go into mortuary science and all I've heard is "why do you need a 4 year degree to put clown makeup on dear people". Drives me mad what pop culture has done to the medical industry in general, it sucks how little positive representation everyone else gets compared to doctors. They're important, but they don't do everything.

I'll never get used to the fact that other countries' school have nurses! I never had one in any of my school, if you are sick "we can't give you any medicine, have a tea", if you get hurt "have a tea", if you get really hurt, like broke a bone "we a tea, we'll call your parents and it's no longer our problem!"

15:20 this!!! My mom is a nursing assistant and has been working in a catholic hospital since the early 80’s when she became a teen mom. She went to a hospital and seeing how young she was and how she needed to raise a kid, they gave her the job. Andddd I mean this in the kindest way possible, she is probably the most unintelligent person I’ve ever met. She can’t pass a single exam they occasionally give her, doesn’t know any medical terms beyond the basics, refuses to take her acrylic nails off because “it’s my life”, and proceeded to tell my sister she needed “vagisil” for her cervix to dilate when she was pregnant. And somehow, she still is working to this day. I’m SOOOO happy things are tighter these days.

hospital story that really made me feel good: I had to get my tonsils removed because I was having trouble breathing when I was sleeping, causing me to not have much restful sleep and falling asleep pretty much anywhere I could. The day of the procedure I was really nervous since I was like 12-ish at the time, a nervous wreck, and everything about hospitals for me was scary There was a nurse that I had that really helped me through and she was very nice. I noticed right away that she was wearing a pride sticker that said "everyone is welcome here" on her name tag thing, and I immediately felt at ease i’m non-binary, and I felt OK to tell her my pronouns and she listened and used them nurses are great-

As someone, who study veterinary on highschool-level (I'm from Poland and here, you can get a lot of medicine knowledge/practise in specialized schools) a lot of things you said about nurse practise are MY OWN THOUGHTS since I have started vet class. So many things are the same, with little things diffrent. - yeah, in the first year, a lot of girls in my class couldn't live with fact, that nails must be short and with no nail polish. Also, with vets, nails cannot be colored, because light colors can make animals stressed, - my lord Satan, yes, hair must me tied up, even animals can grab you by it, - and even at vets clinics is cold AF. When I was at practise, I wear frickin' sweather in summer, because it was cold. Thankfully, nobody in vet field needs to wear skirt, we can all wear comfort pants. Also, yeah, we have to wear specific, medical coats. Pockets aren't a must, but they are helpful, It's always nice, to see similar experiences, even if not all of them are good. Even vets gets shit... (A little ranting here.) Most people think, that vets just take care of cute cats and dogs or constantly are walking in piles of cows shit, but that's not true- it's a hard, stressfull job. You have to be focused and strong, since animals are can be aggresive or not working with you and they don't understand that vets wants to help them. They scream, they bite, they claw you and they can be in agonal state, they can literally choke from fluid in their lungs, while you examine them (which happends to the dog, I was taking care with vet I got practise). And surgeries of boy... they are arguably harder than human, since animals are harder to get in right position or they are immune to aneasthesia (which also happend with cat, in which we pump a shit tone of meds, but he still was not sleeping and we couldn't give him more, because it could kill him). Vets must learn a lot the same things like human doctors and must learn bonus about livestock and pet animals with their specific viruses/food needs/sickness. You have another living being life on your hands and like with human, it's fucking hard and demanding. And I know that and even I wasn't in collage- I'm still in high school and I've seen surgeries, I put animal to death (I mean that legal, mortal aneasthesia, which vets do, when animal cannot be helped), I was watching corpse section, I have to learn so much about anatomy and sicknesess and I can cure animals when I end collage, now, after ending my current school, I can only do a little things (and in vet collage, who gotta still do specialisation) and after also doing special courses (I've done CPR course and now I'm gonna do the insemiation one). I got a shit tone of respect for everyone, who works in medical field, it's crazy, no matter, what job is it- doctor, vet, nurse, dentist, psychologist. And listening to Callimara, I was remined about things that still awating me in vet field. Also, almost all of my teachers are vets and they are cynical, but also intelligent with lot of understanding and knowledge. But, end of the rant, sorry, it was so long. I love all your redesign videos, but this one was special. You really put in so much thought and work into this character, and made someone I wish was real. Also near the end of the video the music coupled with the story implementation was super compelling and dramatic!

Your redesigns are so good! So happy this video is out too, I was in desperate need of background noise to write to, lol. I also hear he's redoing the game entirely and releasing that second game first before he releases the first one. Kind of like writing a book then rewriting it with new characters before releasing the first, if that makes sense, so the game is far from finished. There's a free patreon post about it. It's the dumbest thing he's said so far regarding the game

I feel you. I'm a nurse, a registered one and I'm clumsy! But like, when comes to patients, order and schedules, I will literally beat my own ass if I miss even a simple fact! I work with people's life, health and a big team! I know mistakes are done but I always triple or fourth check all facts, discuss situations or even ask. We follow orders here but not without conscience, like if I believe something is odd or the indication isn't the best, I discuss the points and find an understanding. Health is something that we cannot dismiss or risk.

This concept gets cooler with every video??? Your grasp on narrative progression and making sure everything has a place is immaculate. Not only that, but your designs are amazing!
