For all you guys that can’t afford Moonshines engine upgrades try this...... Rode my Electra glide standard 107 up to them from Florida in May. They put S&S 465G cam chest kit, fulsac headers, power vision Tuner, and I just put TAB BAM stick mufflers on for sound. Now running 101 HP and 120 Tork! Now I have the power and sound! Thanks Moonshine!

You should change to a T-man Cam. I have a T-man cam in my 107 factory Tuner ECM S&S head pipes, Arlen & ness big mouth sucker air filter. my horsepower is 113 and my toque 130. But I must also note I do have headwork and a Zippers chain drive with a bigger sprocket, Energy one clutches and a racing clutch basket on my Street glide. Its My 1st Harley so I still like to Walk it like a street bike, Some people frown on me for picking my bike up Alot! (Power Wheelie) I do NOT have to use the clutch to pick my bike up in 1st and 2nd gear. My Cam turns on at 2700 Rpm Instant Power!!! These guys are So right on Everything; Torque is way better than Horsepower Believe me!💪🙈

Fuel Moto 2-1-2 head pipe, and a dyno tune. Made 115 TQ and 109HP. I didn’t do the ss cam plate and oil pump upgrade though. Bike had a air intake and khromewerks slip ons when I got it.

Kudos on all the work you guys do with the trial and error. I'm not made of money so the Harley 131 sounds like a better solution. My 17 SGS is in the shop now because of the oil sumping issue at 30,000 miles. A badly engineered oil pump from the factory jacked up the entire engine. If I hadn't got the Extended Service Plan, I would be looking at thousands of dollars in repair costs. I am going with the Harley 128 Stage kit, get it covered under the ESP and if I have any more issues I am going to sell and go buy a Goldwing, Indian or BMW.
@MoonshineHarley
@MoonshineHarley 4 жыл бұрын
It’ll be nice to get the extra power. We would advise to upgrade to the S&S or Feuling oil pump and plate. They are both superior to the Harley one, the Harley one will do the job but the other two mentioned will do it better. I guess you could buy a BMW but they are repaired more the H-D. If you are about to buy the Goldwing just buy a new car as they are pretty much the same thing. The Indian is the closest to the harley but why buy the imitation when you have the real thing?

This is an amazingly informative video! Thank you for the time and effort you gents put into shooting and testing. Ive got 11:1 120ci Pistons and Feuling 508 cam. (S&S oil pump springs rods etc) and 55m SE manifold going into my build. Stock heads Supertrapp/Scremin Eagle exhaust. Is the 508 cam a good choice for this setup? Sadly there isnt much info about the cam. What experience do you have with the 508?
@MoonshineHarley
@MoonshineHarley 4 жыл бұрын
We run the 508 on our 114 and 117 high compression engine but switch to the Feuling 521 or 538 on larger displacement setups. Is there still time to go to 11.4:1? You can most likely do the increased compression with a thinner head gasket.

Awesome videos guys thank you for all the work you put in. Have you tested the Khrome Werks full exhaust? I know the MX and D&D are great, I just like the look of the “eclipse chrome” that Khrome Werks does. Are the 2-2 or 2-1 Khrome Werks full exhaust systems good for the 114 comparatively speaking? Thanks again for the awesome work!
@MoonshineHarley
@MoonshineHarley 4 жыл бұрын
We use the 2:2 Khrome Werks exhaust on large displacement engines with ported heads. It’s a big exhaust system and performs very well on that setup. For a 114 we would run the Two step 2:1 Khrome Weeks system as it’s a great setup. They also have a triple step 2:1 and it’s for a 114 with high compression and a larger cam. Hope this helps.

For myself, I'm a little confused, and 'let down,' by HD. I just purchased an '04,' Heritage Softail, "88." It's all stock, and as far as I can tell, 'all original.' Right down to the leaky O ring on the clutch cable, I will be replacing this week... I've ridden the bike less than 300 miles in this past month, and you don't even want to know the $$$ I've already put into it, for parts, tools, oils, etc., and ofcourse, the monthly payment to the bank! There seems to be few people happy with anything "stock," on an HD and it's usually for 2 reasons... First, most experienced HD riders always want more power, torque, and sound. "Bigger is bader," seems to be the moto. "You just gotta step it up to the next biggest, baddest... Thing!" And I get that to a point. Like shoes, you outgrow your first ones and you are ready for the next bigger size. Secondly, and more importantly... It would appear that a stock HD engine is, in a nutshell, "CRAP!" I have listened to many people, who tell you of everything that can and does go wrong with stock engines and parts, from twisting crankshafts (crankshaft runout), terrible plastic shoes on chain tensioners, the poor design of the "tapered connecting rods," cam and tappet "hardness glaze," coming off, Cam plate and oil pump destruction, Cam bearing wearout, on and on, etc., etc... But because HD is such an 'Icon,' (Although it's 'less American made' nowadays), in the US and the world for that matter, there has become this, "Aftermarket culture," where everyone feeds on the fact that HDs in stock configuration are cheap, flimsy, poorly designed money pits. And the aftermarket feeds on this like hungry piranha, on all the meat, in a man's wallet! In the end, what I get from all of this, is that if you spend the $24K+, for a new HD, no matter the size engine, or you get a used bike... Just go ahead and plan on spending double the $$$ to have the engine and tranny rebuilt with better made, aftermarket parts. Or replaced, all together, for something built better, with better parts, better design, and built the way America used to build a lot of things... Better power, better torque, better sound, will only be achieved, by how much money one is willing to feed to the aftermarket piranha! When I say "Piranha," that's not a term I mean entirely negatively. Take these fellows at Moonshine HD. They are all about the numbers... They eat, sleep, shit, puke, numbers all day long! It's like a secret society, speaking in riddles and codes! LOL But they have created a living from doing what they do... They pay their bills, feed their families, and have established a reputation, for the work they do. And for their efforts, they have become just a few of the school of piranha, that take a crappy, stock bike, and turn it into what dreams the owner may have for it. "But dreams ain't free and they ain't cheap!" And along with Moonshine HD, there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of aftermarket products, some great, some not so much, but ALL part of the piranha schools out there, just waiting for someone to step into the tepid waters of the HD world!

We have and it has a graph similar to the one in our video that’s highlighted as short exhaust. Makes good top end but you loose a lot of TQ and HP under 3,500 - 4,000. With that said if you always in the 3,500 plus rpm’s it’s great! If you are running in an RPM range that’s less you can pick up some good gains by swapping exhaust.

@Moonshine Harley I have a 2018 Heritage 114. Factory warranty runs out on Sept. 24. But, I have a Discount ESP warranty that begins when the factory warranty runs out. The Discount ESP warranty is not voided if you use aftermarket parts or tuners, but it doesn't cover those parts. It covers the bike itself and any H-D/Screaming Eagle parts. This means I can use a PowerVision, aftermarket air cleaner, pipes, and those specific items aren't covered but the engine is covered as long as I use the H-D 131 kit. I am referring to the new (Sept 2020) Softail 131 kit. Laying all that out in some detail to avoid misunderstandings. Because of how my warranty works, I would rather use the H-D 131 than an S&S 128. I am in North Carolina about 8 hours from Nashville TN. My question is, is there a body of knowledge of what I can do to maximize the 131 while maintaining reliability? I have a K&H/FuelMoto AC already installed that advertises 80% greater airflow than stock, and says it's "dyno proven" to support 150HP applications. It is based on a K&H Sidedraft but modified for FM to keep the OE outer plate. So I think I'm good there, though tell me if I'm wrong. I am planning to get D&D Fat Cat pipes. I have a PowerVision that I'd plan to use for tuning. I haven't seen any info about cam options for this kit (other than the one it comes with), so that's my main question, along with anything I did NOT ask about but should have. Thanks for any suggestions!

The Moonshine Exhaust in this video is our hand Tig welded stainless steal head pipe. It is 2 into a X chamber and back into 2 we pair with Khrome Werks mufflers with one of the baffles we have designed. We also have a Anti Reversion Chamber Exhaust System which is a 2 into 1 and there is an options for a false pipe so you can have the dual look if preferred. We will do a video and both of these exhaust systems later this year.

Now I'm wondering how well the 55aluminium Manifold works with the Wood 22X cam. The 22X cam was the stock lift one that after looking the graphs gave the most gains at every RPM below 4700RPM. I was gonna go with the 475c, but like Mike said, HP doesnt even come into play at 5250RPM, so the 22X was the queen of the stock lift cams. But I have no idea how it'd react to that 55mm Aluminium manifold. I was lookin to get it in the future just to replace the plastic stock one.

FuelMoto did a comparison of it in their 114 Cam shoot out. Size of the engine? just a stock 114 Stage2. Same engine that fuelmoto tested on. university.fuelmotousa.com/article/h-d-milwaukee-eight-114-softail-camshaft-shootout/ I'm just wondering how the aluminium 55mm would affect the torque in a stage 2 114.

So a tech question for Moonshine. Does the sleeper concept(s&s475 w/ moonshine exhaust) apply to the softails as well? Or, is it because of the exhaust and the set up of softails that would make this type of power not apply to the softails(I own a lowrider S, RS472 cam, bassani prostreets, 130tq and 113hp). Just curious.

We have lots of different setups for the low Ride S. It depends on what you would like. Here they are, 128, 130, 131 Stroker, 133 Stroker, 135. We have a Moonshine HP 2:1 anti reversion we run on softails. They come in Black, Raw Stainless and Polished Stainless. If you like to know more please call 615-274-4170 ask for Jamie, Nick or Aaron.

Great Videos! I’ve learned so much from you guys! I have a question. What cam would you recommend for Max torque/HP and touring reliability using using 124 Rev Perf Cylinders, SE Heads, and D&D Billet Cat? I currently have a Wood wm8-408 and it seems to be beating up my valve train (Valve noise, noisy lifter, TB reversion, etc). About to go In and sure things up. Any feedback on Cam choice would be greatly appreciated!

You guys have the best information for performance to your Harley. In time I plan on buying a Road Glide Special with the114. What do you recommend to get at least 125 hp and about 135 torque. All across. Riding would be in city and with road trips.

Thank you and Yes. Call Aaron or Jamie when you are ready 615-274-4170. If we build your bike at purchase we’ll warranty the engine for two years for you. We also pick up and ship bikes all over the country. It depends on when you do the build because new parts are clmnn in NC out every six months. We just got our new Moonshine 55mm Plus intake manifold completed. Testing and video soon on it.

So I have a 2019 Road King Special 114 with SE stage I. I want to upgrade to stage II, I’ve been looking at the SE515 cam. And keeping the rest stock parts. I only say SE parts as I want to maintain my extended warranty (Active duty military) and I move around a lot (having that piece of mind helps) My question is besides the valve springs and the cam what else should I upgrade ( plan on doing a self install and having the dealership retune the bike)

We will warranty our engine build until your factory warranty expires. So if you just purchased your Road Glide S well warranty it for the two years. If you are out of the factory period we will warranty it for 6 months. We are also really close to launching our own extended coverage that will cover pretty much any upgrade. We will go over more when you contact our team. Please call the shop when you’re ready and ask for Jamie or Aaron 615-274-4170

Elusive Sambar we have several different options. We like to pair our 492 with the 124 or 128 but if you’re staying with stock compression we would do a 465 or 468. If you email me at Horsepower@moonshineharley.com I’ll send you some comparison dyno graphs.

Exactly as I have the 128" Stage 4 but want to get more, especially low end torque. Would like to be able to wheelie away on take off just by twisting throttle. I have had 83, 80" shovel easiest wheelie ever, then a 91 80" evo that was close to the shovel. My 128" won't do that. Yes wheel pops up but back down just as fast....

I have 2 questions: 1: What is your experience with the Cycle Rama CR480 or CR460 Cams on M8? 2: What is your experience with Rinehart 2 into 1 or RCX Tormentor headers(no cat with crossover) with Rinehart 4'' slipons? I ask this because i like performance upgrades, but for me personally Sound is also important.. These cams and these exhaust setups give a Twin Cam like lope and sound (from what i heard on youtube). And still should give some improvements in performance, you guys are the Harley Davidson Hot Rod Experts, i would love to read your thoughts!

LOL! If it doesn't go past the front side of your bag you really don't want it unless you are dragging the bike on the strip. If you look at the graph again you'll notice it finally passes the other pipe at the 5,300 RPM mark. Everything before 5,300 is not good.
