This is the 2001 VW Transporter fitted with the 2.5tdi ajt engine, it is in exceptionally good condition and I can see this being a show winning van in the future and she will be looking at doing a fully bespoke camper conversion.
But first things first and after recently buying the van a full service along with new water pump and timing belts is a must do job. Whether you are capable or not it is recommended to have this done by the professionals. Take it to a reputable company because they will do it the correct way.
As it is over 5 years (at the time of the release of this video) since I first got involved with the T4 I have done many jobs and learnt a lot about VW's in general(I have over 100 videos). However I do have engineering qualifications and experience and I am competent to under go many mechanical jobs, so today in this episode I gave my friend a hand in replacing the water pump and the timing belt along with the diesel timing pump belt.

Just done my belt today following this video...great work, much appreciated! I went down the route of removing the rocker cover to check the lobes on cylinder one were pointing up and I slackened the pulleys off before tensioning. All back together and driven it. Got rid of a few horrible noises which is an added bonus. Now off to Project Power for some Bosch Injectors and a plugging in!

Haha for the right price 🤑my advice would be to just take your time, Haynes manuals are very helpful, that’s what I learnt with back in the day 👍

Great job made to look easy.. been watching your wheel alignment video, as our T4 is pulling to the left. No splitter so having to wait for now.

Yeah reconditioning the wheels on the vectra, then need to get some pennies together to get the belts and water pump on the t4

Fair play 🤙 it is a pain, but like you say the reward of the accomplishment is worth it, as long as you don’t mess up the pump timing, i like to take my time, when you rush mistakes can be easily made.

Yeah used a dial gauge in the pump, and with it running at operating temperature

@@TwiggsT4 cheers for the offer I'm up north. When I booked my van in for a cambelt they didn't tell me that they couldn't do the pump side 😵‍💫😵‍💫 So paid £550 for half a job. I'm getting the courage to do it myself

If you got the brains to do it yourself then go for it, do a bit of research, get one of those dial gauges and away you go. Just take your time, I only had a Haynes manual and that along with reading the forums I taught myself everything I need to know 👍

Hi I’ve got spare engine for my t4 twiggs off guy he got a turbo 220 and diesel pump low Miles off same engine 200£ 420£ for both u think that’s worth it when I can get new turbo 200£ if need one ?it comes with inlet and exhaust manifolds but not intercooler .if did swap engine would swap some bits over anyway but would want use best low miles bits
