It is Wednesday the 17th of April and today we farewell a Siem Reap expat. We say goodbye to Khmer New Year for another year, and we check in on festivities in Japan. We travel south to check out Kampot's newest attraction and we explore new ranger infrastructure on Kulen mountain. We also have the opportunity to celebrate a girl's honesty.

I always love these scooter rides and trying to sort out if i see a landmark i recognize. It didnt take long tosay at all. Thanks for the news uodate and now i have a new travel destination to see a sculpture. Sounds like fun to me.

Great Moto-News updates as always from For-Riel-$. Minnesota has the largest and beautiful Khmer Temple aka Watt Munisotaram in the US. They also celebrated for three days here with live music and many food stalls from all over the States. Cheers 🍷

So sorry about Peter. We went to Kompot on Khmer New Year, but couldn't get to catch sea horse, cos there are alot of people arround, so we just go to Veal Pouch and stay next there. Happy Khmer New Year for Sankran 2568. ^_^

Hi Claire it’s Sangkran or Sangranta in Cambodia I believe. Songkran is Thailand name for the same festival/new yr celebration.

In Luang Prabang Lao, the authorities claim there is no evidence of the sulphuric acid at all in the Mekong. Remarkable! On a different note, sort of, the Lao women ranked higher than the Khmer women in the drinking stakes!

Songkran is Thai version. Khmer is Sangkrant or Sangkranta.

@@Charlie-phlezk the spirit isnt the same between khmer and thai as one was water festival and one was more to village festival play and another thing is khmer songkran celebrat 3 day in each goes as like= Day1=after decorate to participate the new year to welcome the next zodiac god it is the begining of khmer songkran at first khmer people visiting the pagoda and listen to the buddhist proverb Day2=it is a day of right as khmer pay to remember the kind of our parent and ancestor and then visit pagoda just like the first day Day3=as the final day pass the ceremony at the pagoda to count the bowls, listen to the sermon to receive bless,wealth and happiness
