Loung Ung has advocated for equality, human rights, and justice in her native land of Cambodia and worldwide for more than fifteen years. A child survivor of one of the bloodiest genocides of the 20th century, Loung Ung is a passionate activist for human rights. Loung has made over 30 trips back to Cambodia and she is the national spokesperson for the Campaign for a Landmine-Free World. Her inspiring books, (First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers, Lucky Child, and Lulu in the Sky), have allowed her to speak on the larger issues of war and peace, and how we can all become agents of change in our world.

It didn't even respond to the letter that its own sisters was writing.. it wanted so hard to be American n white..n forget where it came from. It seduced a weak White male. Such inspiration? Yeah right. Putrid loosen typical of your kind.

I have never met a strong person with an easy past. Thank you for sharing your story and the story of millions of Cambodians. My family also escaped this horrific atrocity. Life in the USA is a blessing ❤️🙏

Great speech, meaningfull and direct! What You don't tell the world is that Khmers have been through suffering and killing for many centuries. You should also tell the world WHAT were the CAUSES and WHO were the GUILTY parties? Especially during that STUPID Vietnam War!

Yes, what you say is true. But her role/mission/expertise is not giving in a historical account of the origins of the regime, or how Cambodian politics played out/is playing out. It's about the personal effects of war/trauma on a child, and ongoing disaster of landmines.
