Camden coaches should be ashamed. Intimidation when they knew they lost. Poor sportsmanship.

If he got the shot off before time, then it counts. Refs should be blacklisted , at least from tournament games. Reprehensible call

The audacity of the coaches to then rub it in the opposing teams face. Grow up.

Here's what should happen, the coach from Camden should tell the state they are not going and have them send Manasquan, might teach his kids something very valuable, that doing the right thing means more , then winning by default.

These refs must have gone to the same ref school as the refs who refereed the 1972 Olympic basketball game between the U.S. and Russia.

That's not right. Refs stole what should have been an incredible win and lifetime memory from these young guys.

In this case, the officials are 100% responsible for the loss. The trail official initially called it correctly and was walking off the floor. Someone from Camden approached one of the other officials (who didn’t make any call at all initially) and, evidently, convinced him to change the call. What I can’t understand is why the official who initially called the play correctly allowed the other official to change his mind. This is very fishy. If this stands, which apparently it will, those officials should never be allowed to officiate another basketball game.

I think most of us know why this call was made.

Last shot of the game with no time left. The high school athletic commission in NJ should add 2 points to Manasquan's point total and award it the win. The ref should be suspended.

The referee across from the table is the official responsible for the timing on last second shots.He clearly said the basket was good.What happened after that is very curious.For some reason the officials got together and decided to change the call.The calling official was correct and should have stood with his call.For some reason one or both of the other officials got him to change his call as you can see he goes to the table and waves off the basket.

As per rule, the refs once the horn sounds are supposed to leave the court. Someone from Camden approached the ref to say the basket didn't count as they are walking out which is against the NJSIAA rules. Then they came back on the court to conference and get the call wrong. Manasquan appealed and NJSIAA said they made a mistake but the ruling on the court stands. No one asked about approaching the refs after the horn sounds. Camden shouldn't go out of principle. They didn't win.

Two black refs overruled the white ref. That is what I see. And Camden is black and Manasquan is white. Either I am missing something but that bucket went in with a half second. Not looking good.

They need to have better control of that crowd and the court

If you are the Camden coach how do you look at your players with a straight face? I mean the video is 100% clear and all his players know it. This is about life lessons. They should forfeit the game.

The officials should be ashamed of themselves. Also, the Camden coaches and school show their total lack of integrity not to have forfeited the game. I'm not surprised...the reason is obvious.

So the official on the top of the screen got it right, he should have stood his ground and said the basket counts. The two other officials must be his senior because their the ones that called the shot no good.

I'm calling on the coach of the other team to do the right thing here...this is a valuable moment to teach these kids what's right is right.

It wasn’t as close as the article I read made it seem. The ball had actually fallen all the way through the net and the clock was still rolling

These are people who can’t accept that basketball is a game of skill and talent not based on genetics !

So, the ball was actually through the hoop completely before time ran out.

Someone in charge at Camden should step up and do the right thing. As a former coach, I would not want a victory in the face of such clear evidence that it’s undeserved.

The team was robbed. Should’ve counted.

Hello, 24 year NJSIAA official here. We have a rulebook for a reason. It clearly states this is a judgement call by the LEAD (under the basket)official on the putback if you wind back the video, you will see after the shot he steps in to view the play, then after the tap he starts to wave the shot off as "no good" by his judgment. Children rush the court so none of you SEE him waive the call off. The C and trail official move towards the table and the lead official comes over to inform them the shot was no good. This would be clear in a normal game, because the trail would look at the lead and see him waiving it off, the coaches and kids would also see this. But the floor was rushed and nobody noticed as a kid ran into him as he was waiving it off. This is why we have the rules, so emotion and chaos will not dictate our sport. 1 person has the final say on a basket, its not a democracy. Right or wrong it is clear who has the only say on a judgment call for the final shot. I cant condem an official for "not being demonstrative enough" as we can also say "coaches please restrain your kids from being on the floor or making contact with officials" Both are the human element to our game and I am proud of our sport.

Remember 1990 when the referee's robbed Montclair High School of a football state Championship by adding time back on the clock after it expired and Randolph wins by a FG. Now the was a robbery.

It was the right call for a semifinal game. Looks like the first shooter traveled and that should have been called.

If this is reversed...news outlets would be screaming how racist these refs were and DEMAND they overturn it!

It happens in all levels. That is a shame, somebody needs to step in and change this.

There was .7 seconds on clock when the last shot was taken and made. Camden has to live with a "Win by cheating" that's worse than a "Lose by 1 pt".

Those 3 referees should be suspended if not out right fired, the coaching staff from Camden should be ashamed of themselves, their kids got BEAT, flat out.

Sad. But, bad calls happen in all levels of all sports. I've seen bad calls during Superbowl, Wimbledon, etc. They can not like the call, challenge, and then accept and move on.

This is 2024 , can't have white team beating black team, we all know this.

The taxpayers of New Jersey recently built Camden High School a new building for $242 million. Since then Camden has been shipping "students" in from across the country to play basketball. There was a controversy a few years ago regarding many of these "students" and the payments of their out of state tuition. Now this. Sometimes cliches fit; follow the money. Many of NJ public schools are no longer a "common good" but have become a retail racket instead.

My narration of the final sequence Shot goes up, the trail, with his hand up watches the last shot., the hand is up to signal "good if it goes" we then have a REBOUND on the lower blocks and a putback and the lead (baseline) referee steps in the LEAD steps in, and waves off the putback, but the Trail (bald guy at the top) who no longer has jurisdiction on the call signals the game is over. The kids rush the floor so nobody notices that the call has been waived off the lead official then comes over to the sidelines and informs the C and trail that the shot was no good. Then pulls the other 2 officials back to inform them of his call.

Here’s the problem. The center official emphatically signaled that the basket counted. If the trail official had a different opinion he should have came in stronger and got the officials together immediately to discuss what he saw. He is scene casually walking off the court until he was intercepted by one of the Camden coaches. Suspiciously he now has a change of opinion and talks the other official into changing his call. Then has the audacity to admit afterwards that the basket was legit, thereby costing a team from advancing to the finals.

lol, how can you even cheer if you're on Camden? You know you lost and were gifted an undeserved spot to the finals.

The little clock in the frame isn't the offical clock. I wish we had a view of the real clock. What time did he get control of the rebound on the offical clock? At less than 0.3 seconds the ball must be tipped. If we could see the clock it would be possible to know for sure but with the little screen clock we can't tell. I've officiated thousands of games and can tell you that last second shots are instinctive. One ref has the clock, one has the shot and one is watching for fouls in the paint. If the shot counted you would see movement to mark to score with no thought. You just signal. There is no time to debate it in your head. Because we can't see the real clock and not a single ref marked the shot. I think it may have required a tip; a catch and shoot is too slow.

Watch the Camden coaches immediately after the shot. Anybody that thinks Camden will do the right thing obviously is not from Jersey. Camden is Camden.

The basket was clearly good, but sometimes the incorrect call is made. Officials are human and make mistakes. It’s unfortunate that the mistake cost Manasquan the game, but life isn’t always fair.

Let's remember that in 2019 a Camden football game ended with students shooting guns and critically wounding another student. It's becoming clear why this call was made

Those referees were dead wrong about that. That kid put the shot up before time ran out. That team who got cheated didn’t deserves to be eliminated. They deserve to win.

That was a no-brainer. Looks like the black folks got their way again, at the expense of someone else, . . . again.

clearly see the refs walking away as thou the game was over and a group of black men got in their faces essentially demanding they change the call. its clear as day. rewatch the video if you didn't see it the first time around. that is an example of what goes in our society everyday with woke and dei and critical race. this is what it is creating. those refs were intimidate and gave the benefit of the doubt to the group that will riot and fight even when they are wrong and shafted the group that won't do anything even if they are right.

Why should we work hard on any sports? The refs are the ones who determines the wins! THAT GAME WAS A HAND OUT GAME. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF WHAT THEY DID.

That was really an incredible play by 12 to catch that after mistiming his jump and flicking back up without jumping. I think the way he an Manas acted, and the way a few of the Camden players reacted, it looked like the players knew the shot was good. That's really too bad. I understand it was a tight close call, but it didn't seem that close actually. I think he got it off with .4 seconds in another video. You don't want to questions the referees integrity, but it's a little suspect looking. I assume the rest of the game though was called well so I don't know. Not sure what the solution is, but Camden can't feel too good moving forward to the next round. Kind of not good for them either the whole situation honestly.
