I was just talking about a camel's eyelashes earlier as an example of how animals adapt to their environment. So that's quite the coincidence that this was posted hours later, recommended to me, and the eyelashes were first thing talked about! 😮🐫

In case you should notice, camels are defined by the family Camelidae as a whole, the dromedary is now considered the sole extant species of the genus Camelus, which thus relocates the bactrian camel along with its extinct relatives like the knobloch's camel and siwalik camel to a separate genus known as Oreocamelus, there are in fact six extant camel species under four genera: the Vicuna (Vicugna vicugna), the Alpaca (Vicugna pacos), the Guanaco (Lama guanicoe), the Llama (Lama glama), the Dromedary (Camelus dromedarius), and the Bactrian Camel (Oreocamelus bactrianus).
