Little know facts about Wayne Cooper. He sang backing vocals for artist like Eddie Kendricks. Also he sang the lead vocals on some Disco songs by a group called "Bambu." "I Don't Wanna Lose It" and "Stairway to the Sky" are the name of the songs.

So I'm a huge Wayne Cooper fan and this is my favorite Cameo ballad. As for the greatest falsetto assertion, you failed to mention Russell Thompkins, Jr of the Stylistics, and EJ Johnson of Enchantment. Real old school, Eddie Holman. But I respect your preference. While I think the argument is between Philip and Russell, EJ in his prime is my personal favorite.

You mentioned Philip Bailey joined Earth, Wind & Fire he was a baritone. He wasn’t singing in the high falsetto at the time he just changed to sing in the high falsetto because it was much better for the band and their style. I agree with you though I give them both about a 10 and I would say Wayne might be a tad stronger.

You're right, they're both good, but the 80 version had that Blue Coral wax shine on it. Wayne's voice had a vibrato and vulnerability that was his alone. And on the up tempo stuff it was like a butterfly flying through a snow blizzard. Much as we loved Cameo concerts, because they ALWAYS!! delivered, we missed this one not being sung. If they had of let a woman join the group to do it l wouldn't have been mad at all. Charlie once said in an interview that he just couldn't do it, Anthony Lockett even tried....not good. The guy that came immediately after Wayne left was good on all the other songs, but I never heard him do this one, that would have been interesting.
