There are many programs that can do camera tracking, and the same basic fundamentals apply to all of them. In this video, however, Niko shows you how to get a flawless camera track in Boujou!

It's pretty straightforward, whenever you drop the object in, it follows the camera on it's own since it's being filmed by a CG camera. However I don't use max enough to know the exact step to have the video background in your viewer.

Nice job on the tool and ability to abstract the methodology of motion tracking. I've been playing around with VooCAT and find it fairly intuitive plus powerful. Has a great tool set similar to Boujou that you demonstrate in this video. For those looking for a motion tracking app, even though it might not be quite as powerful in some area's, it's price tag for a commercial version might be just what your looking for. I can't wait for more of these tutorial video's from you guys!

You basically mask the part that you want to object track, then invert the mask to get the whole scene except the object masked. When exporting, select "Frozen camera, moving scene" . Done. In your 3D program, parent your 3D object to the moving null.

I don't know if this helps but if you're using a plugin like Twixter, try and record the background as plain as possible. It will help a great deal. This is why Twixter works superbly with outdoor skate or bike footage with blue sky :)

Thanks!

go into 4 view mode and make sure it isn't below a null on the ground. Or you can also copy the position data of the null and paste it to the solid to get it in the general area

Hi, Sam and Niko. Thank you very much for the tutorial. After tracking and solving (with specified overlapping _Gold_ points spanning over 100 frames and all) everything looked pretty solid and made sense visually. However, upon switching to 3d view, to my astonishment, I found that the generated point cloud looked extremely shallow (nearly flat). In fact, some of the points corresponding to features in the scene *further from the real camera* actually appeared *closer to the solved camera*. What the hell?! You emphasized at one point the importance of paralaxing to a good solve. I'm guessing my problem is due to lack thereof in the shot? S.O.S.!
@TeDubbs
@TeDubbs 11 жыл бұрын
boujou will be able to track any shot as long as its rectilinear, aka the straight lines arent curvy like the gopro's fisheye. All you have to do is undistort the fisheye shots, which you can do in after effects with the "lens correction" filter.
