GAS, gear acquisition syndrome. I'm guilty, too. Running low on film, but instead of ordering more film I just now placed a bid on a camera I don't realistically need. You're inspiring me to think about editing my photos and perhaps putting something together along the same lines. Thanks

I have fallen into the gear trap many times. Too many. I am developing a rule that if I buy something and don't like it or use it, I must give it away. This way I don't corner myself with the flawed idea of "I can just sell it later and recoup the money." Money was not the issue, if it were I never would have bought to begin with. This is sort of a hard love discipline but I think it will work.

Great points about focusing on making work and not just lusting after gear. Putting together a body of work says so much more about a photographer than showing off the latest gear. Would love to see more about zine process and would be interested in purchasing a copy of Dead Birds. Love the point about doing things with intent. Well done!

Thank you, I will see where things go with the zine. It is still in a drafting stage.

Mate, are you okay? The Perflex(?) is a Praktiflex 2. The Diax has three finders for different focal lengths: 45-50, 35 and 90 mm. The latter two finders should be slightly tinted. I don't get why people say things like "I've taken film photos." for two reasons. To the beholder, it doesn't matter whether these are film or digital photos. And why mention the "film" part at all? It is so weird to say "film photos" and sounds wrong. Why not just say "I've taken photos."? I'm gonna take your advice and go through some more of my old stuff. I did that, lately, when I found a box of photos I shot about 20 to 25 years ago. And I was surprised that some of the stuff I discarded back than actually isn't that bad!

I misspoke it is a Praktiflex. If I was doing a propper review I probably would have said it right half the time and explained the nonsense series of finders on the Diax... My point being; it's really not worth exhausting a lot of time, money and energy on obscure cameras that are not that great and no one is going out of there way to find. One good camera with 2 good lenses will get far more done at a much better quality with more reliable consistent results than a shelf of cheap cameras and piles of mediocre lenses.
