Well done Giorgi! She was imperious. One of the best games I've seen her play. Raducanu was simply outclassed. There was precious little she could do, with Giorgi on fire and in the groove!

@@wild3estdreams10 really? wasn't aware of that but that is very much a one-off I think it can be agreed and saying that a measly 3 winners is not going to get you a win is correct to say in 99.99% of tour matches. Bouzkova's opponent hit 44 unforced errors in a short match that went 6-0 , 6-3 so yes it was enough as the opponent was playing pretty terribly. equally you have to actually win matches to get to a final. Raducanu hasn't been able to win even 3 matches at any tournament anywhere since September 2021 - you won't find anyone else inside the Top 60 of the WTA who hasn't managed to do that.

You are very generous. The truth is that covid interrupted the entire season, and many players, and their teams simply could not travel. There was too much uncertainty. Radacanu fluked her way through. She is just not good enough. A commentators job at the BBC beckons. She has the face, and the personality. Let's face it, if second raters like Sue Barker and Andrew Castle can do it, then she can too.

Emma's having trouble playing anyone this year, I think we will have to greatly lower our expectations. After she loses points from the US Open, she will be ranked where she deserves to be, maybe 40 to 60.

In her US open run last year, Emma didn't face anybody that hits this hard and aggressive. Sakkari can hit hard but she's more conservative and Leylah takes the ball early but they're not as aggressive as Giorgi. Emma is very good at absorbing pace and redirecting but Giorgi was just in her face all the time.

They used to call Chris Everr the ice princess as well..nothing wrong with that or that Giorgi is very attractive. So nice to hear that she is the defending champion of this tournament..really nice to hear that for her winning a slam. Last year her father was not at this tournament and she won..hope she left him home again because she wins..aka.. the Mary Pierce syndrome..sorry to say that but it's true. Raducanu obviously gave up after Giorgi got the break back in the second set and then broke Raducanu's serve to go up 3-2. From then on Raducanu made Giorgi's service returns look fantastic and Giorgi's rally winning shots look super. In the last game, Giorgi should have closed it out at love, instead of playing two uptight points before winning at 30. Raducanu must be cursing Giorgi for making her stay on the court for two points too long. .... Raducanu definitely is a player with zero confidence now. .... I was pulling for Raducanu at the US Open final. Surely the degree of difficulty for her to win the title was not typical of other grand slam champions', but she and her game was no doubt refreshing to watch. Any solid player ranked in the top 40 can be expected to beat her in straight set now. Sad!

I keep saying that Raducanu needs time to get consistent wins. She was a novice a year ago. The one observation that I have made is that she seems to be as not as aggressive in her play. Meaning that when she won the USO last year, I remember her playing right up on the baseline, and coming into the forecourt more. Last week and today, I saw her way behind the baseline. Another point is that she doesn’t have a serious weapon at her disposal. She needs time to develop her game now. I’m beginning to have the feeling that the USO win was that of an unknown player who had caught lightning in a bottle, and ran with it.
