Give her a break. Giorgi was just perfect today. barely any mistakes. If any two players are any close to each other in their levels, one will win with less mistakes.

@@scout7060 read mine again. I never say same. All pros are ABOUT at similar level and it takes just a bit more to be better than the other. One of them is less mistakes which Giorgi did this time. And if u know a bit better than u do, Andreescu is a better player in general

Oh Dear, that disguised backhand slice shot by Giorgi is unplayable! Period! Lots of winners from it also. Very high tennis IQ and shots selection from Camila. My goodness, she's brilliant.

@davemariano72 - Reason why you don’t is she is just so inconsistent. I think she needs to fire her dad who coaches her, and start totally fresh. She is extremely talented, but needs guidance on the court.

Explosive performance from Camila Giorgi - she plays a very aggressive game, anyway! More demonstrative than we're used to seeing (a fair few fist pumps) and she even acknowledged the home crowd that witnessed a brutal and ruthless dismantling of one of their own! Wow!! Go Camila!!

Giorgi played some inspired tennis here. Laser-like backhand; wonderful reflexes. She made Bianca (no pushover herself) look like she wasn't trying. Was Bianca injured? What a great game from Giorgi, though. Congrats! Well deserved win!

Bianca intimated that she had a slight injury, towards the second set I think. Couldn’t move super well at the end , but I think Giorgi was gonna win either way

It's funny, this is really impressive by Giorgi but it also make me a little sad. It's a glimpse of what could have been for her career if she'd had a better coaching setup and the right people around her looking out for her best interests.

anche nei suoi primi anni raramente l'ho vista giocare con tanta concentrazione, senza mai scendere di livello (forse solo quando sconfisse la Sharapova); emblematico il commentatore che dice che "Camila è in uno dei suoi giorni", perché è stata una partita esemplare che ha fatto capire che carriera avrebbe potuto avere, se avesse fatto veramente sul serio e avesse avuto sempre quella capacità di rimanere concentrata e in partita.

When Giorgi is striking the ball cleanly, she is extremely tough to beat. However, her aggressive play style sometimes is difficult to maintain throughout an entire tournament. Invariably, she will play a match where she makes too many errors and loses as a result. But she is still fun to watch, even when she's losing ;)

Andreescu forgot her game plan. She got roped into playing Giorgi's game, i.e. end to end ball bashing. She should've thrown in more variety which is her strength - more slices, drop shots, loopy high balls. Few people could go toe to toe with Giorgi on ball bashing, even Keys could barely keep up. I think Giorgi will have trouble with players like Bouzkova or Jabeur.

This is a great point. I'm not sure Bianca could have beaten Giorgi today anyway, but I agree that she didn't bring her normal level of variety and feel to the match. She hasn't looked as explosive as she used to lately either. I'm not sure what's going on. Hats off to Giorgi though. She hit the cover off the ball out there.
