Thank you for sharing these very insightful perspectives. Religions and any history will not be perfect but they do offer many great riches, They can offer foundations for deeper understanding through structures and analogies.

I’m not gonna lie I don’t believe any classroom in the United States would be unaware of Hitler. They teach Hitler still. Not only that it’s all over the movies, KZfaq, history channel, etc.

The way I see Hitler used online by the vast majority of kids is mainly to call out vegans ("Hitler was one of you", while his favourite dish were liver dumplings) and to say somebody is being too passionate about something. There's even a meme called The Austrian Painter where the AI-generated voice of Hitles is used to sing pop songs.

She challenges a lot of my assumptions about identity and power and my influence from reading Foucault. Not in a Marxist class consciousness sense but in a larger history of ideas perspective. I think there is a lot of truth to what she says about not being able to understand history without including religion and belief, particularly parts of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict are difficult to puzzle out without this understanding. I'd like to her a conversation between her and Gore Vidal if that was possible.

I'm curious why Gore Vidal? What do you think he'd bring to the conversation?

Sorry Camille. Speaking for the UK, it's an absolute bin fire here.

CP is FoS. We need better education in languages, science, politics, mathematics, social & cultural studies, history, literature, ancient mythology. Forget about modern religion.

At least watch the whole talk before dismissing her. If you did, you’d know that she has been advocating for everything you mentioned for years, and taking a lot of heat for it.

If you are an atheist, religion is a subset of mythology, so I don't see the difference.

Nah. All that stuff is downstream of the metaphysics of existence.

Still, extremely western-centric. Compare the world isnt europe and the united states. The limitations of european education is such that in the current system, f@scism can thrive... Economics geography and history are taught as disjoint from one another instead of in their interconnectedness. And technology is alienated from the first three and from the individuals. I mean most students would finish school and not have a clear understanding of systems evolving under gravity, let alone simple mechanical systems like the fridge in their house or an air-conditioner. And i dont even mention how these relatively simple systems are PRODUCED under the current socio-economic mode of organization. But of course, the western school system isnt going to teach you that the current economic system is based on the exploitation of the people of the whole world and the us dollar is one of the instruments. The petrodollar is a system of exporting crises and importing profit, resources and products from the 'third world' and 'non-western' centers.
