The craziest part for me about this performance is that they perform this like a couple hours through their concert and they still sounded amazing after singing live for hours. Like the skill and stamina is really unmatched. No one can touch Mamamoo when it comes to vocals. All 4 of them are amazing vocalists!

YESSSSS MAMAMOO LIVES ARE LEGENDARY. Everyone always says Mamamoo are amazing performers, their live stages never disappoint 💚

The dance moves are funny because the medley consist of songs from the TV show "Immortal Songs 2" where South Korea's best singers are interpreting songs everyone in the country knows and loves ("Immortal" songs) and are competing against each other. Because the songs are older (sometimes decades old), the dances are older, too. Or they thought the dance should be consistent with the song when they prepared their concert. Mamamoo participated 14 times (which is really hard if you are an idol group and speaks for their outstanding quality) and won three times.

Hwasa is usually most people’s first Bias, however once people learn more they realise that Mamaoo is a group made of four soloists 😊. The dancing was using the original moves from the songs, the outfits was a nod at retro. This segment was halfway through a four hour long concert 😅. Mamamoo are well known as boundary breakers that then allow other female groups more freedom and stand up for female rights. They are close to BTS, Red Velvet, Black Pink and G Idle

Honestly everything Mamamoo is just ICONIC. You need to watch their award show performances! You will GAY panic 100%.

Moonbyul started to have vocal lines in mamamoo's songs around 4 or 5 years ago, this medley is older, the company didn't give her the chance to sing before 2018. If you want to hear her singing you could react to her solo projects (all the members have released solo albums). I personally recommend you the Shutdown mv for moonbyul. Also they started with a retro concept and jazz inspired music, so maybe that's why they're dressed like that (also bc they look hot in suits). The concert where they performed this medley was called "moosical" so the outfits kinda make sense, also this is a medley of songs they'd already performed before in a show called "immortal songs" where they sing iconic korean old songs, that's another reason the clothes they're using followed the concept of the performance. I was once a blink before discover mamamoo, now I am a moo. You haven’t see the whole of the group as they are all rounder artist, they can dance well too, just that you have yet to see. Appreciate Wheein dance as she is as good as Lisa. They all can rap too. Good performers as well, their stage presence just amazing, they sing live while dancing. Just that their agency suck as they don’t promote them well since they come from a small company not like YG who can promote and shoot the MV with a large budget. Their songs are meaningful, and not only mention love song which is different from most of the kpop girl groups. They are amazing as comedian as well, true and sincere to their fans. The talent throughout all of K-Pop is insane. (We know this) and all art is subjective, so fandoms will obviously differ in taste. (We can all like and enjoy our own preference). But I think it is fair to say that Mamamoo are generally regarded as the vocal queens.

This was their concert in 2017 it was a four hour concert. This was happening three hours into their concert with 12 inch heels. If you check out their solo projects you'll get amazed. To answer some of your things. We are Moomoo’s. The suits are a reference to one of these individual performance outfits. And the choreo bits are referenced choreo to the original songs that they are covering. This is also 2 1/2 hours into their concert. And in case you missed it…in 4” stilettos. QUEENS!

this was legit a 4-hour concert. the stamina is bananas. moonbyul is also a fantastic vocalist and can belt her heart out (she’s also the highest credited female idol ever. songwriting queen!)

The funny little dance moves are actually the original choreography from the songs they were covering; it's not the girls' own dance, but it does make me smile every time i watch! ☺☺ Also, just some notes since it can be quite a challenge to tell some of their voices apart: At 5:46, Solar isn't the one singing with Moonbyul's rap. First it's Hwasa for one line, then it switches to Wheein. Plus, the higher belter at 12:31 is Wheein, not Solar. Solar and Wheein do happen to sound quite similar at times! For reaction recommendations within Mamamoo, I'd suggest their performance of "I Miss You" on Queendom (an idol competitive show that they won). You saw a snippet of it in Mamamoo's killing voice, but there's so much more to the song and it's breathtaking every time. I'd also suggest Wheein's vocal cover of "Honey" by Kehlani, and Solar's solo song "Spit it Out". All the members have wonderful solo projects (and a couple of them have put out the occasional wlw anthem too). In terms of other vocally-driven kpop groups, I'd say the first one that comes to mind is Red Velvet. I'm not very familiar with them, but I know one of the members, Wendy, is worth looking into if you want to see more kpop vocal talent. Another member, Seulgi, is also rather talented iirc. Apart from Red Velvet's group stuff I think some of the members might also have solos. That might be a group you'd be interested in!

11 minutes? Their concerts last for 3-4 hours! :D There are many great groups and soloists in Kpop. Mamamoo are legends partly because they are all amazing vocalists and have amazing harmonies; but individuals absolutely can blow you away. These are just some of my favourites (all girls :P ), and the list is in no way complete, but I suggest watching Taeyeon's Killing Voice next, then IU's and Bibi's; then turn to Lee Mujin Service series and check out Swan's episode, and Chaewon's, and Yuqi's... As for rappers... Soyeon's "Is This Bad B****** Number" ft Youngji and Bibi, XG Galz Xypher, Moon Sua and Siyoon's cover of Haon's Boong Boong are some of recent standouts for me.

The second time they appeared on Immortal Songs show, (August 2015) Mamamoo did a rendition of Jo Young-nam's "Delilah" (the old Tom Jones song) that absolutely brought the house down. If you want to see them shake the rafters of that huge theater, watch their DELILAH performance. But stay to the very end,.. there's a big finish that you don't want to miss.

their 3 and 4 part harmonies are pure gold, their combinations and quick/easy flips among any 2 members harmonizing (on the fly) are pure gold, but when Wheein and Hwasa harmonize ... well, you just hear all their years and years of friendship, going back to middle school, just coming through so beautifully. they can both go husky, they can both go high, they can sing over each other, under each other, over Solar, under Solar, whatever needs to happen for the perfect sound and as they have all matured, frankly the deep friendship (IMO) between Solar and Moonbyul has produced an equally beautiful sound frame coming into their 9th year, they are just so comfortable performing with each other 🤩

I love that you took the time to learn their names. I used to be a hardcore Blink, but Mamamoo stays feeding me. I can’t wait until you get into their solo stuff - then it’s even *more* thrilling to see that four incredible soloists continue to choose to stay together and blend so well as a group.

If you want to hear Moonbyul's singing talents I would recommend her performances of Congratulations and/or Refuge (this once absolutely blew me away) both of which are from a recent competition specifically for female rappers to prove their vocal abilities

Okay, lemme explain the funny dance 😂 Immortal Songs is a TV show where they invite vocals-focused singers to compete against each other by singing covers of a different artist every week. The artist in focus is usually from the pre-kpop days. Mamamoo were the one of very few kpop groups to have been invited repeatedly and the first kpop group ever to win an episode (usually its solo ballad singers who dominate). Currently they are tied with ATEEZ for the most wins as a full kpop group. This medley is a celebration of most of the covers they'd done on the show at that point. That part of the dance is their tribute to the original dance to the original song that was released in the 90s, hence the janky old-school vibe. I promise Mamamoo are also brilliant dancers! Other names in Kpop may appear "trendier" or more popular with the masses for various reasons, but when it comes to talent and pure performing ability I think Mamamoo are the ones that will be appreciated for the long haul. Their older songs and stages withstand the test of time, and are fucking fun bangers even when you watch them today. Scary thing is, they're like ever-evolving pokemons and keep improving themselves even though they'll be 10 years into their debut next year...

That third (?) song is called Way to Sampo, and it still gives me chills, even after hearing it 100+ times. After hearing this the first time, I played it again and again, at least once or twice a day for a month. Not only was Mamamoo live for this concert (and all their concerts), so was the band. They don't do it nearly as much now, but they used to wear matching outfits all the time. They would wear at least 12 different outfits for a four hour concert. They wore suits a LOT. For Decalcomanie (highly recommend), they wore tuxedos.

I'm assuming that other commenters are telling you exactly what you are looking at here. This Immortal songs medley is from I think their 3rd appearance (October 2015) on the Korean music competition television show, Immortal Songs,... that aired every saturday night. This is their first overall win with 404 points. The reason some of these songs may be familiar is that none of them are Mamamoo songs. The challenge of the show is to pick a singer and do your own versions of their music. These are all songs of Korean trot singer Bae Ho (known as the "Elvis of Korean Trot"). In the medley they run thru Bae Ho songs, Backwoods, Love Story of a Girl, Way to Sampo, You in My Fading Memory, Wonderful Passion & Flying into the Night Sky,.. And I must say, their versions are no doubt more famous now to western ears than the original singers' are. The concert other commenters are talking about is their first Mamamoo Concert-Moosical. This was meant as a curtain call to introduce that upcoming concert (which is their own music,... mostly). They also competed & won another music competition show called Queendom, where you get to see other girl groups watching them on stage just completely impressed with how amazing they are.

Regarding their dancing, although they usually don't go overboard on their choreo, Mamamoo are not afraid to just have fun on stage. I'm pretty sure they chose the choreography partly because they were covering sims by older groups/performers and partly because they knew it would look dorky. Once you have seen them perform 1cm(taller than you) or Waggy, you will realise how comfortable they are just having fun and enjoying performing.

Fun to note that the dance moves are a homage to the older famous songs they’re covering in the medley not necessarily something they’d come up with if they were their own new songs. Just a nice tough they added to respect the artists that came before them.

People HAVE told you Hwasa stories by now I hope. She is one inspiring person. I'm sure you'll run into her stories as you delve deeper into Mamamoo. Early on in her career, Producers would single her out of auditions, straight up tell her she was too fat and too "ugly" to be on any stage,.. and send her home crying. There is a body/look type in Korean culture (Jisoo would be ideal). Hwasa is not thin, has hips and is absolutely gorgeous!! But not their ideal type. Eventually she saw Beyonce' performing with a more full figured body and decided if she didn't fit the ideal type, she would create a new ideal. And she proudly flaunts her body. And frequently gets attacked in the press for all of it. What she's wearing, how she's wearing it, where she's wearing it,.... they really go after any appearance she makes,... even if she's just walking thru the airport, they attack her. So she has good reason to be a little aggressive,... if she looks like she wants to kick your ass,... she does. And she WILL. It's reflexive by now.

Moonbyul does sing in a few of their group tracks, especially things such as "paint me" and the fan-focused b-side "star wind flower sun" (she also does quite a lot of harmonizing in many of their songs, but that is always easily missed) You'll definitely hear her singing in a lot of her solo work. All four members have quite an assortment of solo releases, with solar having the fewest official ones (but her series of covers, 'solar's emotions' actually gives her the most solo songs. Just, because they're covers, they don't count as solos)

Mamamoo will be that group in 50, 100, 10,000 years that people will go back and say "why were they not more popular?" I know they won Queendom and they get 30M+ views but they still feel like they're behind the "bigger groups" which isn't an insult to those incredible talents but what these women do is extraordinary. Also, Red Velvet should be your next group. They are, in my opinion, the best combination of voices that turns to one voice. Mamamoo is the best collection but Red Velvet does harmonizing so well. Start with Automatic, it's a Bside MV but hits hard and sets their vocal tone, Feel My Rhythm or Wildside, which is their Japanese release.

Welcome to becoming a moomoo, I am all in the Solar System for my bias even though I love all 4 of them, I am completely a simp and stan. There is actually a second video from Immortal one song, Delilah as in Tom Jones, it is a long song which is probably why its separate but that alone showcases even more of what you just saw. Keep in mind they were this good back then the 2014 time frame, they are now around 28 to 31 and sound even better. Yes Solar has steel mutant lungs. There is a video Despacito a cover, after 10 minutes of singing and insane latin dancing at the end Solar is swinging on a pole, one handed, the other holding a mic as she spins, Belting like that. Who the heck can belt while working a pole.Plus you can see 3 and 4 hour concerts where they sound that good all the way to the end. Mamamoo always sounds that good live, they tried lipsync once and could not do it, there is a video for it. All of them can sing and rap. A really good showcase of Moonbyul singing is a pikachu song they did live. Also Moonbyuls solos have a lot of singing, Wheein doing rap would be her masked singer performance. There is also a Live acapella version of Um Ah Oh Yeh in a Pentonix style. Solar has covers on solarsido which are insane and if you really want a gem, Solar did an end of year karaoke of her own songs but one was a song from her being the lead actress in Mata Hari and she performs live on her channel one of the songs. Live performance videos from them are the best. A really good one of them young is a radio show which has an MV of them covering Love me, it is live and insane how good they were back in 2014. There is a lot to watch. They did over 25 songs in 2022 with mamamoo, solos, OSTs, covers, collabs and more.

They've talked about how, early in their career, they used to do multiple performances a day. Busking, college festivals, mall appearances. It's really paid off in their ability to perform like this and their ability to work a crowd. It's what makes their live performances really special, IMO.

2ne1 was one of Mamamoo's idols and their stages are 100x better sung live and the energy they bring! Definitely should watch! Unfortunately they have disbanded around 2016 but Mamamoo is the only group who came close to touching and matching their energies on the stage!!! Would not regret!

This is my first time watching this Mamamoo live performance so in a way I’m reacting to it for the first time as you are, Cami. As a huuuge fan of Blackpink, I can’t deny that Mamamoo can sing much better live than Blackpink can. And their harmonies…OMG I love that shit!

Mamamoo are amazing performers. And inhighly encourage you to see them lice if you can. They are going on world tour this year and is currently on the asia leg of the tour. Immortal songs are this program where they invite legendary singers and diva each episode and have 6 groups and soloists to perform a rendition of their original hits.. the program is not really much known to international kpop fans and are quite famous among older korean viewers.. mamamoo started appearing in this show since their early career and made a name among people who are not modern kpop fans in s.korea.. regarding their outfits, it’s a similar theme to how most singers would dress in Immortal Songs programme, all formal and less flashy since they compete for a win based on their singing skill and how well they remix/do the rendition of a song. 17:21 they always incorporated multicolored pantsuits and formal uniform (as in military-esque uniform with belts, medals and everything) in their concerts/stage performances. I think it made them looks really mature and professional tho, especially when they open their buttons halfway as the beats hits harder 🤣. But for this performance, I think it also symbolizes a form of respect cuz this "immortal song" medley consists of their senior's legendary songs that each have diffrent themed fashions, so rather than using multiple costumes that may or may not suit the theme, they rather go with professional looking one :') But don't worry, when performing their own song on the same concert, they later change into the more "pop star" looking attire. In fact, they change it multiple times through out the concert to suit the theme of every song they perform, there are even a new set of solo costume when they performed their solo song. But everytime they perform immortal song medley in their concerts, they almost always wear these multicolored pantsuits :')

The first song of this video was my first listened song from them /Backwoods from Immortal songs 2 show/. That time stage was amazing, it blew my mind away 🥰. Yeah they are a great singer!!!!!! Sadly because of this many people underrated their dancing skills…but actually dancers in 1Million (the best dancer company in korea) mentioned wheein is one of the best dancer among the same generation kpop idols so let’s go check out some of the dance cover did by wheein and u will know why they said so and of coz solar moonbyul n hwasa can dance well too they are not just great singer but also great dancer and great performers!!! I can tell this is true as I just went to their concert and watched it live last weekend hahaha

If you're interested about Moonbyul's singing, voice color and artistry in general, then I can only recommend one of her groundbreaking solo release Shutdown. An chill R'nB track, featuring another great vocalist Seori, which depicts LITERALLY lesbian sex in such an erotic yet tasteful way it'll knock your ass off (to watch with subtitles ofc). But overall, I cannot stress enough how fun you'll have listening to any of their releases (as a group and solo). You're in for a treat. And if you're curious about who they are as people, I can only recommend our legendary guide "introducing mamamoo" by Purple Hawke.
