I plan to do a detailed video on the Softopper and platform setup. Ask me what you want to know. Also, I kept calling the Bluetti B80P an "extender". It's actually called an *expansion* battery.

Hey Alan, seeing this late...i just saw you on Sunday (june 9) at Snow Summit. You were with friends relaxing. Had to say hello as its always a treat to see you. Ive been camping with my rig since March '23 love it. We chatted briefly about Whistler. I know you did A Line and other blacks, im older and less experienced than you and stuck to blues and greens like Crank It Up, B Line, Una Moss, Heart of Darkness, etc. Cant wait to go back there. You are my mtb mentor of sorts, I've learned a ton of useful stuff from you. THANKS! Maybe ill see you again at Summit, maybe Skypark. (I have the Bluetti EB55 700 watt) Cheers my man!

My first Taco was an Access Cab with the long bed. The TruckBedz air mattress was amazing in the long bed. When I got the double cab I got another truck bed tent and tried using a full size ari mattress just not fully inflated but it wasn't nearly as nice. I've since moved to ground tents.

Nice vid man! I also have a short bed TRD off-road. Right now for summer bike adventure I am running a roof top tent, but I have contemplated shifting to something more like your setup because as much as I like the tent and having my bed free for bikes and gear, the RTT in the wind can be awful.

You should do more videos like this! Perhaps split them in parts, 1: camping/overlanding, 2: riding! Also, is the video format to overly stretch a permanent feature? It's a bit too stretch and I don't know about others, but for me it's kinda dizzying.

I've slept across the seat of my new 84 toyota pickup in Cottondale/same on a new 78 F 150 4x4 beside I 75/Fla. Front seat of Hertzbox truck in Pensacola back lot. Daytona parking lot front seat of a 66 Dart GT. FRONT SEAT of my 65 Malibu in a rock quary just out of Scottsboro Ala 1977 day before my interview at Hollwood Neucler Plant building site.I was turned away. Holy hill Fla. At the car wash on US 1.In a 59 Vette. Eaten alive by mosquitoes! Top down?

Time to camp at SkyPark? Been looking for an excuse to overnight up there. Also, a nice thing to have with your setup is portable solar. I use a 150 foldable panel and it keeps my fridge humming all weekend long with no issues. And if I need to juice up my portable batteries, it's great for that too - so I get my lights at night, keep my phone charged, etc.

Those are both good suggestions! Skypark would be fun. I might also do some overnighters in Big Bear for Snow Summit. I've been looking at some solar panels, and I appreciate you saying you use a 150. I wasn't sure how much panel I would need.

@@mtb_alan it’s plenty for my weekend warrior needs. The fridges, once cold, actually don’t draw as much as you’d think, so I turn it on and get it cold before the trip, then load it up. Portable battery keeps it humming until we get to our site. Then I connect the solar and we’re golden. A good shop to chat with is GTFOverland. Owner Curt is a super nice dude and happy to answer questions.

I just got the new Stamp Trails and smashed my foot into a root that sent me over the bars basically completely losing a toenail. So my only beef with them is why is my normal size sooo tight on these shoes? I didn’t think about it until after the fact but all my other shoes range from a 10.5 to 11. These are 11 but feel like a size 10 which led to my foot totally getting smashed. Crankbrother was nice to give me a discount to get them replaced but not quite enough of a discount so now I am back to 5-10 sadly. There is something definitely wrong with their sizes. Great vids as usual! Thank you!

How long is your bed and were you able to sleep straight or did you have to crunch up a bit due to the short bed?

Good question. I am working on a detailed vid on the setup, but it's a 5 foot bed. I sleep diagonal. That's why the platform has that angle cut in it.

What locking chain and what size do you use to secure your rig? I have not been able to find something that is long enough to attach to my 1Up thank you much appreciated!

Oh yeah 1981 Bike Week parking lot again of Gateway Resteraunte back seatbof a 79 Pinto/27 degrees! I COULDN'T EVEN GET IN MY SKEEPING BAG. I had an Egloo cooler with ice and the Daytona map on ea ice bag. No phone/i did have one thing/my 357 model 19.never left home without it. Also plywood over my toyota bed with my new wife n dauhter in 1993 /outter banks. Hotter than?

I have had a ton of BIPOC people tell me how seeing my videos and seeing someone who looked like them having rad days made them feel safer and more comfortable coming into mountain biking and generally the outdoor space. You are fortunate that you don’t have to think about that. 🤘🏾🇺🇸
