The shoebill stork is an impressive and dinosaur-like bird found in Uganda. Sushi lived at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre in Entebbe and was rescued by their team after locals set fire to the wetlands. 🚙

We actually hear dinosaurs all the time, just not the non-avian dinosaurs. Birds are actual dinosaurs, but the avian ones.

@@landolonnie8811 Edit: The Shoebill is one of four families, to also include the hamerkop, ibises, spoonbills, herons, egrets and bitterns. This order did not emerge until around 65 million years ago. [they are pre-historic then]

That is only one specific Shoebill. The rest do not do that. They are still rather passive animals not that aggressive to humans if not given reason to.

@@Selkie7 had some geese. But also the horse park had geese and the trail went right to the lakes dam and spillway area before bouncing into the woods again. Was sort of a tradition to run my pony over and disrupt all the geese living peacefully and such. They will chase you after you chase them no matter what And they are like "ya you better run" Full on rocky the champ no matter how much they ran. If you walk away they won and they celebrate and trash talk you to their buddies. Goose gets the last word and always wins. I haven't tried to see if they will postpone migration to win though.

Living in swampland helped them survive because most blacks in Africa weren’t hunting there. But there are less than 3,500 left in existence which is pretty sad! Eventually they will go extinct.

@ZaiTruLive Because they live in a region that stretches from South Sudan to Zambia. Those are countries inhabited by almost entirely black people. It’s extremely rare to see a non-black person in those countries. Unless they’re aid workers or missionaries.

These birds are from Uganda and they need to be kept there they are not found anywhere but in Uganda and when you take them out of their primary habitat what little chance they have a breeding will be little to none they also breed like dinosaurs they lay eggs like once a year please quit taking them out of Uganda.

The bow and shake is actually their courtship display when trying to find a mate, or to other Shoebills they are affectionate with. For humans, the bow pretty much translates to a display of respect and affection, which is why they always encourage you to bow back at them! So when a Shoebill does that in these videos, now you know what it means :-)

Crocodiles, Sharks or even Turtles are not close to dinosaurs, but existed along with dinosaurs. They didn't even change their appearance that much when you look at Deinosuchus or the Megalodon etc.

Their last shared common ancestor probably lived more than 250 mya. Birds btw also lived alongside non-avian dinosaurs since the earliest bird evolved during the Jurassic period.

Fun fact: these birds are so friendly that it is one of the main reasons why they are endangered. Their friendly personality towards people is what allows poachers to get close. When they bow and shake their head it’s a sign of greeting and respect and you have to respond with the same movement if you wanna be close to them/ interact with them. Beautiful birds…. Humans just take advantage of their easygoing behavior. Not only that but we destroy their habitat which is also leading to their decline. Not to mention that they only have 2 chicks at a time but only let the strongest survive (due to wanting to focus resources on a stronger chick rather than one that may never catch up)

@@Periskop55, при СССР детей в школе учили, что птица с самым большим и толстым клювом это пеликан. Мы такую птицу точно не пропустили бы. Её либо совсем недавно нашли где-то в лесах, либо воссоздали генетически из живых клеток доисторических вымерших птиц.
