I like how you stated that possessed isn’t the right word if we are discussing a believer. I’ve been taught that Christians can be “oppressed” by demons. Where yes they can function normally but there is still some torment from demons in their heart/mind that affects them negatively and the demon must be cast out. The distinction between possession and oppression explains how unbelievers can be totally controlled by demons while a believer is not under total control of the demon but still experiences some negative effects.

Bud i think oppression is what you're describing. I think you're right, the church should be educating its congregation on the matter. On the matter of people thinking they have demons in them... it could be they are under severe oppression rather than them being subject to demon possessions. They are similar but not the same.

One of Satans biggest lies is to try and get Christian’s to believe they can’t have demons or be demon oppressed. It’s really simple, we allow demons and give them access by the sin we continue in and refuse to repent from. We also at times deal with generational ties that we are simply born with. All of these verses that he mentioned are taken out of context. 2 Cor 6:14-18 for example is talking about having relationships or friendships with unbelievers.

The disciples also casted out demons Jesus casted out demons everywhere he went. I don't think people were atheist back then so they had to be religious. As a Christian I struggled against demonic spirits. It was a spirtual battle of hell I had no peace at all. I oppen doors in my past as a lukewarm Christian. Allowing sin to control my life. Once I woke up and started following Christ. I got attacked everyday with spirit of anxiety, anger, and mental tormenting spirits. He's wrong. Believers can have demons especially if they've had trauma or sin from their life they haven't repented of that gave a demon the right to enter. This is bad teaching.

What was bad about this teaching Todd. Give some scripture to support yor claim. Experience is not enough. I believe that the issue here might be people who think they were saved because they had an experience of God but not truly gave themselves to Him and were later delivered or saved you could say. @MrRudymancha So this is a very in-depth topic. And yes do to experience and study I have come to realize we as Christians are not exempt from demonic oppression or torment. In fact, there is a large percentage of Christians who are being tormented or oppressed, not possesed, and do not have anyone to turn to because of teachers and teachings like this one. They are scared because they love Jesus, confess him as Lord and believe in their heart, but if the Pastors say they can't have a demon than they must not be a Christian. Now you have a pastor that can't deal with this very real problem and believer that is scared to come forward. This means physical attacks psychological tormenting, and even worse but not possession. It means this demon has attached itself to the Christian because of some form of legal right. If there are doors open of sin, declare things over life knowingly or unknowingly, among other ways then a demon has legal right. Sometimes God allows it in his infinite wisdom. We cannot be possessed because we are God's property, praise the Lord. I would refer to the comment on this video by Godsview which was a very good response. As far as scripture Paul was tormented by a demon which was his thorn in the flesh. He asked God to take it from him and God told him that His grace was sufficient. 2 Corinthians 12...Paul said To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. @@shadowboxcat Having done research on the brain, I think she for sure had brain damage to the temporal lobe amongst other areas that led to hallucinations, but she was perfectly fine beforehand and if she hadn’t experienced a form of trauma- mental or physical before to the brain, then it may have been infection that led to brain damage but otherwise there may not be a logical scientific evidence as to the how she got brain damage that led to such behaviors and records at the time may have not been completely accurate. If she had sudden brain trauma, I’m sure that is a plausible reason for damage to regions of the brain but another reason can be - for those who believe that possession can exist- maybe a reason beyond the scientific realm. I just asked out of curiosity! Not to impose anything to her story as I don’t know the story too well.

Because he, like I, believe that once you have the Holy Spirit in you, it never leaves. A true believer will always stay a believer. That's what a true believer is. It's possible for a true believer to mess up from time to time, to get caught up in their sin for a while and struggle with it, but you still believe! Struggles are normal, it doesn't mean you have a demon in you.
