I remember those days of repairing failed locks on the old cabinets doors. You did it correctly and good effort. I'm sure the needed parts to replace the wires from the mechs to the main boards are available.

I'm betting money that you have a bad ground wire. 90% of problems with those kind of machines is a bad ground. Best of luck. I hope you can get it fixed.

The coin comparator has a switch on it to change between NC/NO (Normally Closed or Normally Open). Try changing to the normally open position. There is usually a second switch to adjust the pulse width timing of the credit signal on the coin comparator. This might solve your problem. Additionally, the issue with a coin being detected when moving the wires is most likely a loose connection or break in a wire. That harness moves around when the coin mechs are moved left and right by the player. It most likely caused a small internal break inside the coin signal wire. Use a multimeter and check continuity on each wire from end to end while moving them.

Well, can't pick a broken lock, so gotta drill it. sometimes this is necessary, and it shows just how much work and _time_ goes into doing so, meaning it's VERY conspicuous, and the likelihood ogf getting caught is *extremely* high if you're doing this to steal!

Please examine the connection from the malfunctioning right coin comparator back to the main circuit board as a first step in troubleshooting. Additionally, ensure that the pinout of the coin comparator is identical to that of the previous coin mechanisms. As I understand it, the coin mechanisms were replaced primarily due to issues with the door not opening. Inspect the wiring connected to the door, tilt sensor, and solenoid for the door along with all other wires that may be loose or damaged. Check for coins/objects preventing the door from opening. Consider the possibility of a faulty solenoid that remains energized or de-energized preventing the door from opening. Make sure the hinges and moving parts are well lubricated. Check the board for any noticeable damage. I hope this advice will assist you in finding a solution. Thank you for sharing the video, and I wish you the best of luck in resolving this issue.

I would say that the problem could be pinched wiring causing a short, such as a zip-tie that's on the wires too tightly.

I love how the thumbnail implies the glass on most coin pushers is ballistic glass or something and that coin pushers are impenetrable strongboxes.

Hey @ArcadeMatt there's probably a short in one of the wires the way to test for a short is use a multi meter and change the multimeter to continuity then put each probe of the meter on each pin of the wires on each side

I always carry a skeleton key for them cam locks haha! It's a lifesaver

I drilled maybe a dozen machine with the exact lock. It was difficult the first 3 machines but after the 3rd it was a price of cake

I decided to watch this video on my commute to a client, and it was a good use of my time.

You can also get a tubular lock pick for cheap. Under $20. They're very simple to use. I keep one on hand for the arcades in my garage, just in case I can't find the key. Also handy for removing tire boots, if a towing company boots your car for some reason. [edit] Oh. I missed the part where the lock is damaged. So, nevermind!

Appreciate these kinds of vids Matt! I think you had the right idea that something’s up with the wires that are supposed to trip the gate. Either the connectors for them are faulty or theirs a bad connection/bad wire… curious where the other port is for those wires (behind the coin mech) and if that’s where the trouble lies… I am no expert by any means, but have a fair understanding of arcade game mechanics and troubleshooting… but more from a player’s standpoint, not a technician… Again awesome vid and hope to see more like this. ❤

Could have went straight to the big bit for something this size. Also wd40 helps keep the bit cool while you’re drilling

Locking your keys in the coin pusher reminds me of an old video from the Matt3756 days when your car keys were locked in your Little Diamond and the keys to the Little Diamond were locked in your car and you only had $2 to win them. A few years ago you did that again because you needed to get to the post office to mail a prize someone had bought from your website.

6:49 -- Especially wood products. Unfortunately, everything's made out of MDF nowadays -- like your coin pusher cabinet. There was a time when game cabinets were made from plywood, or even solid wood, which is MUCH stronger and far more resilient. Also lighter than MDF. I loathe MDF. I've never owned something made from MDF that didn't break or crumble to pieces.
