This is a good video and I liked it. I have been watching various videos on this subject, reading blogs, etc., trying to determine how the orthodox methodologies have changed/progressed since I was a young guy, and started doing my own home repairs. Things are pretty static over the past 40+ years with drywall maintenance and repair. Recently I hung a large TV on the LR wall and had three (3) holes approximately 1-inch square to patch. They were used to snake wires to a soundbar. Yesterday 8/10/23 I went to ACE Hardware and purchased a pack of four (4) 2-inch square DAP Eclipse wall patches. I followed the instructions. The paint has just dried a few minutes ago. The finish product is good. I had no problems. If I look at the repaired area, I can't see any evidence of the patch or where the holes were. My wife is happy. Case closed. I have no issue patching smaller holes the way I did. Just my $0.02.

Finally someone not trying to sell a product. I saw this advertised on a different media platform and seemed too good to be true. Tried and true is always the way to go!

Thanks for a great video. I was thinking of purchasing some of this but now, I don't think I will. It's not yet 'there'. The spackling compound is still better and spackle would be impossible to see if a 2nd application were applied or slightly overfilled and sanded smooth when dry. Spackle usually dries slightly smaller than it is wet and I can't seem to do 'perfection,' so overfilling slightly and sanding back works better for me.

I bought these a little while back and it must’ve been just before you posted your video because there were none at the time. I’m getting ready to do the work now, so I thought I’d check again. After seeing it, I’m pretty disappointed in the results. I figured it might be detectable if you really looked, but I’d hoped it was setup in a way where it would feather itself out more than that. For anything that you can patch without adding drywall like a dent or small hole, I think using spackle is a no-brainer. In my case I’m repairing 4 spots where the previous owners of my house mounted speakers on the wall. I’ve filled the screw holes the traditional way, but they hacked out approximately 1” square holes for the wires. Due to their irregular shape and small size I thought this would be a good alternative to cutting small pieces of drywall to patch in, but now I’m rethinking that.

I will stick to using spackle. For tiny holes like that (on your wall) some people use white toothpaste to fill it in. 🐸

Hello I have used the bigger size over a 2 inch hole and have used an expensive paint roller. I have done 5 coats now and you can still se the outline it’s not worth it spakling is better. Also I want to add that the middle of the patch where the hole is had warped like a bubble

My favorite is the tube of 3M spackle that has a little sanding pad and spatula built into the tube, I used a whole tube moving out and you can't see any of the holes

Very good job on this review. From what I saw here I tend to agree. I’ll stick with standard spackle. Thx for saving me from wasting my time & money on this product!

I never heard of putting brush in fridge. I been painting 13 years and just wrap in plastic and it stays good. How does fridge help?

We have done both. It seems to last longer in the fridge. It can be in for weeks and still work.

I am wondering if anyone used this product over a molly. We are repainting a room that has 2 mollys in the wall that I want to recover, but my husband doesn't want to remove the actual molly.

Very interesting find Steph. I think my method works best. Whenever possible, I hang things using 3M strips so there's no damage when they're removed. For those holes that I made before the switch, I prefer the non shrinking filler. Thanks for this great video though. Very informative.

@@MotherDaughterProjectsDIY It's saved me so many holes to fill. Do make sure you pull the tab down as close to the wall as possible. The first one I removed I pulled more out than down and it did a little damage. All since then have been perfect.

The commercial shows the patch resisting the door banging a new hole. I highly doubt that.

I just used this (hadnt seen your video yet)...really not impressed. Is it possible to pick off the sticker? I'd much rather do it the traditional way if still possible..🤦🏻‍♀️

From how you describe the stickers they seem a little gimmicky when it's almost as much effort as the spackle!!
