This engine came off a 2016 XMR 1000 can am renegade. This engine would run but acted like it had a lower than stock rev limiter. It also had some noise coming from the bottom end that sounded like it was coming from the rear cylinder but it was actually the front piston's rod bearings that were spun. #ad

Great video! I'm surprised it doesn't have more views. It was one of the most informative videos I could find. I think this is the same problem I have on my 2017 Outlander 1000R. I only had 400kms on it and rolled it down a big hill. When it finally stopped rolling, it was sitting upside down and the throttle was stuck at about 3/4 throttle. It took us about a minute to get to it and shut it off. Once I fixed it all up and put it back together ($4,000.00 Canadian to fix!), I took it for a ride and it was like it had 1/2 the power or something. I got it up to about 45km/hour and knew something was wrong. By the time I turned it around to go back to the garage... it was making some weird noises. I have a snorkel so you can hear absolutely everything with the engine and clutches. It was wheezing like it was starved for air or something and there was a knock coming from somewhere. I am almost certain this is what happened on my machine. The Indy shop here said that crank is about $1,500.00 Canadian and he said after I pay the labour to take it apart and rebuild it.... I'd be better off buying a new engine from Canam which he said is around $6,300.00 Canadian. I'm taking it in to get it fixed but not sure if I should go to the Indy shop guy or to the dealership. Expensive mistake I made! I'll be a lot more weary of hills going forward. My Gen 1 would go up the same hill like nothing but these Gen 2's are so damn tippy.

Yes I hadn't had the video up but just a few months but it's gotten a few views. I'm actually in the process of putting this motor back together tonight. I ended up having the crank ground down and found some automotive bearings that would fit it and saved a bunch of money on that. I'm also putting some drop-in cams in it when I put it back together. Hopefully I'll have a video up if not this weekend by the first of the week of a reassembly. It sounds like this bike had the same symptoms as yours with a limited RPM and weird noises coming from the crankcase. .

That is an awesome video. When you helper said “take the headlight off” I lost it. That’s too funny. Good job little dude!!

Lol I'm not sure if he is going to make a better mechanic or comedian. If you want a good laugh and want to see one where he did all the work check out this video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orZibK5ix92qcZc.html

Great video! I watched the 250 recon videos too. I have a 2020 Can Am 850 Outlander...no issues so far, but the plastic gears worry me...I may not have bought it if i knew about the gears...i read all the rave reviews about Rotax quality and power...the power is there, so i hope it holds up...keep up the great videos...im gonna watch em all !

Why does the motor have to be top dead center to disassemble??
@FourwheelerDoctor
@FourwheelerDoctor 3 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. It just makes it easier pulling the heads off. Also like to put it at top dead center to check the timing marks to make sure I get them back in the same positions when I reassemble
