Changing engine coolant and antifreeze on a 2015 Can-Am Outlander L 500 DPS. Used the AMSOIL Biodegradable Low Toxicity Antifreeze and Engine Coolant (ANT1G). Hey Scott. Great video. I have a 2018 outlander 650 I got it used and today I did the engine oil and gearbox with Amsoil. I have the coolant and plan to do that next. I wish I had left all the plastic pieces off. That footwell is a pain to get out. Again. Glad I found the video so I know I need to mix my Amsoil coolant with some distilled water. I kept thinking it went in straight.

Nice machine! Thank you. That footwell is terrible getting off. I hope the newer Can-Am's have a better design. Just a tip I learned. When flushing the system use actual coolant. I have seen guys flush the system with distilled water and the water doesn’t all come out. Then when you add your fresh coolant it mixes with the distilled water and dilutes your coolant.

Thanks Nathan. I like it! Makes perfect sense to me. It's very difficult to get all of it out when just draining and filling. May just have to let it run a little longer to build temp to open the thermostat with the coolant vs water. Appreciate the suggestion.

@@mcmuskie2563 not true. Buddy of mine flushed with distilled water, added coolant, ran it and then topped it off. Had to mess with the water pump shortly after….coolant was extremely diluted

Hi. Can I add antifreeze that mixes with any color to the existing coolant? (Can am coolant)...and that small hose on the water pump suppose to have a rubber in it? I have a 2020 570 2up base model..

Hi there. Great question Todd. Yes, it is my understanding the manufactures simply add a dye to their coolants to make you think you have to run the “purple, green, red, etc.” coolant. Don’t be fooled by the color. Wouldn’t hurt to double check the specs on both just to be sure. But, you should be just fine to top off. When you run out of Can-Am Coolant please consider upgrading to AMSOIL’s new Powersports Antifreeze and Coolant (PSAFQT) in your machine for maximum protection, www.amsoil.com/p/powersports-antifreeze-coolant-psaf/?zo=1649274

did you use the bleeding valve or it just would be better to ?

Great Question William. It is best to use the bleeder valves. I did not. They are tucked up in there and require more plastic to be removed. I like to run with the cap off, get it nice and hot so the thermostat opens. Never had the bubbles not work themselves out and out.

Great question. I'd consider sticking with distilled water or even new coolant to flush. It can be difficult to get all the old fluid out even when popping a hose. Especially if the thermostat is closed. This way some of your old coolant isn't in there for a long while. I'd rather have clean water or fresh coolant in there.

@@WINTERTIGER-ng3lp sounds like you have a leak. Consider filling it up with distilled water to where the water is coming out. Fix the leak first. Once fixed then fill it back up with distilled water and let it idle with the cap off until the fan kicks on and it starts to steam. Then you'll know the thermostat is open. Drain all the water out and refill with coolant.

Meant to be show how to perform a coolant change on your ATV. AMSOIL is simply what I use. The info is there for any others who might possibly be looking for maximum heat reduction and protection in their machines as well.
