I found the easiest way to change the oil in an X3, is park it in the middle of a field, drain the oil, change the filter, put everything back together, & refill it. Phase 2, spray the skid plate down with purple power & pressure wash all the mess off. Clean as a whistle!

I mean, you’re basically just putting it back where it came from right? 😂🤣

Great video. Easiest way I’ve found is to buy a form-a-funnel. You can mold it like a ramp to the plugs and drain the oil to the side of the car. Not 1 drop of oil on the skid plate. Clean up any residue with pj1 contact cleaner and you’re done.

I have 2, of these x3’ Curtis valves makes a great system for the oil changes on the x3’ and rzrs. For what its worth. They specialize in aircraft drains, there are two numbers for the x3’ and amazon has a funnel made to fit the oblong hole in the skid plate.

Best ever is the Curtis Valve for x3

You need to check out the silicone funnel on amazon for the X3 its the same size as the hole opening so you can feed your tools threw it makes it 10 times easier. Best 20 bucks you will spend collapsible so its easy peesy getting it in and out.

I noticed after you jacked it yp you didn't leave the jack under it. After you finish changing the oil, did you just drive off then the vehicle would just set back to its normal spread?

I would've like to see where you let the oil out bs just seeing where you placed the pink wide open funnel

What size tool do you use? That would have been helpful in the video.

Can you cut a bigger hole in the skid plate to make it easier?

It has a brace for the frame right under the drain.

Anyway have a good suggestion on the “break in” fluid changes?
@WvTrailN3 жыл бұрын
I wanna say mine was around 25 hrs. I think the manual calls for a lot longer period on the break in tho.
@tcnpsu13 жыл бұрын
@@WvTrailN it’s taken me like 6 months to get to 250 miles. The duration is why I’m thinking about just getting it over with now. I’d have to look to see how many hours that is.
@kylejackson28233 жыл бұрын
I did my first service right under 50 hrs. The dirtiest fluid was the front diff. I know Can-am promotes "ride a yr. maintenance free." Depends a lot on your style and frequency of riding.

Just follow manufacturer suggestions, dealer advisors don't know more and you dont need to keep changing oil more than need it
@iTzReAcTiiOnZ3 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to do all that. Use a funnel with a hose on Amazon and someone made a custom 3D printed oil pan that redirects the oil down through the skid plate

Is that your winter set of wheels and tires?
@WvTrailN3 жыл бұрын
I swapped to those for a ride that didn’t happen. Back on my system 3 with carnivores now.
@fhutchins7343 жыл бұрын
@@WvTrailN Oh ok good, I was hoping you didn’t beat up the 3’s and carnivores to the point of having to ride stock. Stay safe and keep up the channel👍🏻

You ought to try washing it before changing the oil.

I hosed it off a little. My water pressure here sucks!

Think imma take a hole saw to my skid plate next time
@WvTrailN3 жыл бұрын
I thought about that. The frame runs under the drain plugs. You’d still have a mess.
