American professional eater Randy Santel versus Wilson Barbecue's "Long Dog" 1 Meter Long Hot Dog / Sausage Challenge hosted by Wilson Barbecue in the Johnsonville suburb of Wellington, New Zealand at the bottom of New Zealand's North Island!! My girlfriend ‪@KatinaEatsKilos‬ and I left Tokyo, Japan in East Asia and flew down to Queenstown on the South Island of New Zealand to begin a multi-week eating challenge tour around both islands of New Zealand. For our first North Island food challenge, we flew from Christchurch up to Wellington so we could each take on the undefeated "Long Dog" Meter Long Loaded Hot Dog Challenge at Wilson Barbecue over in Johnsonville which is a suburb of Wellington, New Zealand. Wilson Barbecue offers a different food challenge each month and while we were in town, they offered a "Long Dog" 1 Meter Long Loaded Hot Dog Challenge topped with lots of BBQ pulled pork and other toppings on a long baguette loaf as the hot dog bun, served over 1kg (2.2lbs) of French fries. I had just 20 minutes to feast on a 1 meter long sausage that was custom-made just for the challenge, served inside a long steamed baguette loaf of bread that served as the bun, that was also loaded with Wilson Barbecue's juicy pulled pork plus coleslaw, some healthy veggies, and 4 different sauces - a homemade relish, ketchup, a cheese sauce, and a sweet mustard. The challenge includes 2.2lbs or 1kg of Wilson's fries and drinks were just optional. Many people had tried and 1 person managed to finish in around 24 minutes, but the "Long Dog" Challenge was still undefeated because the time limit was only 20 minutes. Winners receive the $50 NZD (~$30 USD) hot dog challenge meal free plus a sweet Wilson BBQ hoody and a spot on the Wall of Fame for winning one of the many challenges that have been offered. @@RandySantelRandy, I want to thank you for believe it or not, helping me losing weight. I used your challenge and goal strategy to go on things like 7 day no carb sprints or 30 day 1500 calories per day challenges. Got the idea from watching you when you were on a weight loss doing the bowling frame challenge. Lost 35 pounds since January and am under 200lbs for the first time in 20 years.

In many ways, being a KZfaqr or celebrity is easy as you get paid to do things most people just do for free everyday (e.g., doing an eating challenge). Of course, it's not that simple and one of the challenges is that you get faced with a lot more public hate and scorn than most people do. People telling you that you suck, you should retire, they don't like you, etc. That can't be easy, but Randy's done a great job of keeping a positive mindset and pushing past that kind of crap.

Back in the late 1980s I did my first food challenge. I did a doz Hot full wings not cut in 15 mins without taking a drink in upstate NY while home on leave from the army. I won the meal for free. I never thought food challenges would become an internet sensations. I did many more challenges on the east cost from FL to NY threw the early 1990s. I never made a ton of money and You Tube wasn't a thing yet. My point is at some point we all have to throw in the towel. You will know when the time is Randy. The great thing is you have a huge following on YT you could do almost anything (example travel videos or food shows) People will follow. So when you finally do decide to throw in the towel, you will still have many of us if you decide another avenue. I promise to be one of them. 👍👍👍
