Prof Dr Stelios Bekiros: I have been studying Marshall's technique and bought all his books. I guarantee that the outcome of his musical wisdom in guitar, is the synergy of his University education combined with his musical talent and knowledge. I call SWYBRYD approach the "final frontier" in guitar education. Enabling perhaps for the first time, to play equally proficiently both classical and jazz, rock and fusion etc, reaching shred levels with minimum energy effort on the right hand while at the same time achieving maximum utility and economy. Maestro Harrison is THE one. SWYBRYD is THE most complete playing approach ever devised.

I think to really get the technique for playing Bach on guitar you really need to go though the Solo Guitar Playing by Frederick Noad, both books one and two and actually study classical guitar for a while. Also going though the Lute suites is really important too. I find a lot of electric guitar players just don't have the sustain, even though an electric with a singing lead has much much more than a classical. If you want to play single lines then you really need to practice keys and then play those keys in diatonic thirds, arpeggios, 7th note arpeggios 4ths, 5ths, 6ths, 7ths, and octaves. Practicing scales daily is really important and I feel like a lot of people dismiss that because people say that it's not going to help you be a better player... Marty Friedman actually says this in Melodic Control if I'm not mistaken, but he obviously knows his keys. Also reading the actual notation is super important, but you can't just do that without gradually building up to that, which is where going though the Noad books come in handy, they teach you about positions and gradually build your sight reading skills so you learn how to read music like someone would read this comment or a novel. If I were to learn Bach pieces on electric guitar I would pick out the single line pieces meant for woodwinds or strings, then transpose them so they work on guitar... Although, multiple notes played at once on a distorted guitar sounds actually awful , if you record the lines separately it sounds fucking killer... Just saying.

We’re taking a more monophonic approach to Bach here. If you can’t play a single line by Bach up to tempo how can you even begin to contemplate multiple? If you have any recordings available of the distorted tone recorded individually I think we’d all a like to give it a listen. Thanks

@@RozarSmacco Listen man, I love your playing, this comment was targeted towards people who want to start reading music/ learning these pieces. The Frederick Noad books build you up to being able to play contrapuntal music in general. I've gotten the prelude from the 998 suite, the prelude from 1006a, and the chaconne up to tempo on a classical when I was in university...Which is pretty fucking hard, especially if you add in dynamics and trying to keep the melodic line louder than the bass notes, what's even more difficult is making sure you get all of the rests in... Especially in the bass. I can't do it anymore as I mostly teach children who can hardly keep their shit in their ass. But honestly, does my comment come across as someone who doesn't know what their talking about. I'm not as good at electric guitar as you, I fucking love your playing... I probably should have stated that this was targeted for people who want to be able to do what you do.

I’ve always been fascinated by this guy’s playing. What an interesting fellow. It’s so nice to hear someone summarize the importance of Bach. Especially with the left trying to reduce him to an “agent of white supremacy”.

Star thank you for watching the video. Second off, please leave political suppositions office channel. I know lots of people from the left and the right and never once ever have I heard anybody from the left make any kind of moronic assertion like the one you mentioned.
