Its because he hasn't gotten as far nor won before. Accolades wise Smart is better. Offensively he is better but until he proves it they're always going to have doubts. Plus he has injury issues. And its not just Smart. They also lost Grant Williams. So they gave up 2 of their main defensive guys, 1 of which is also a playmaker, as a result of the trade. They got slightly worse as a team.

Nobody talks about that because the celtics problem on offense wasn't scoring, it was play-making. Jason Tatum and Jalen Brown will turn the ball over every chance they get in a clutch situation. Porzings doesn't solve that.

@@BigDawg9139 Smart had 1 down year defensively plus had some injuries compared to the year before. Using 1 off season to conclude he is a worse player doesn't make sense. Especially when he was literally the best defender in the league just a season before that. & as for Grant Williams, he simply wasn't utilized much by the coach. I know some Celtics fans want to live in denial but the team got worse. Not by a lot. Slightly. And even if you want to say no they didn't.. okay. But its a fact they're worse off on the defensive end at least. The roster and plans of the coach will likely keep the downward trajectory on that side of the ball. Can't win like that.

Everyone is going to have to deal with that CBA, not just the Celtics. Insufferable listening to this clip, getting rid of one of those two is just dumb, and will only help the teams these guys root for. By this logic every team that has a supersrar who hasn't won has to trade that superstar, I wonder if LeSean McCoy would trade Embiid who has never even been to the finals....

The only person they can easily trade is Tatum, he can fit into pretty much any roster in the league, Brown not so much. There's only a handful of teams with draft capital and young players to trade for Brown, OKC and Houston heading the list. Secondly with the kicker in the contract, any team he's going to will have pay more per season than the Celtics would have.

As for the rest of what you said, White will grow into the PG role even more now and KP will open up Tatum and Brown even more. TATUM BROWN KP is a legit Big 3 and then they have White and Brogdon as PGs and Williams Horford as Centers. This is a great team. The real missing ingredient is Tatums killer instinct.

I think having an elite defense translates to wins … especially when you have superstars that can get up a shot against anyone and you can lean on their greatness offensively. You can’t lean on one player defensively anymore. Rotations happen as a unit where everyone is on a string. Y’all lost some of that. Miami always gonna do that. Milwaukee prob always gonna do that. Idk if Porzingas can do that. I think Rob will is better at that and then you have that question of who do you start and how many minutes rather than just playing your 5 best guys

I honestly don't know anymore. They should win a title, but their biggest issue throughout this regime is playing down to their competition. Last year both in the regular season and the playoffs it was on full display. They had trouble taking out the Hawks and Sixers for crying out loud. But then once they had to go against an elite coaching staff, they were exposed. I wouldn't say Mazzulla is a bad coach just yet. You could have thrown out Udoka or Brad Stevens and they still probably wouldn't have won it all because Tatum, Brown, and the rest of the team are so inconsistent.

Shady doesn't know his basketball. This duo is still young and setting records for their scoring, They have not reached their peak yet. Porzingas will add another dimension this year that was missing with Smart especially during late game situations. The flopping rule this year will hurt Smart. they missing the point. Brown and Tatum get better every year. Last year despite loosing ECF they had career years. The team delivered in playoffs, the only thing left is for the Jays to elevate a litttttle bit more for them to turn the corner. Theyre too close, and these players are too young to throw it away.

Are we just going to overlook the facts…Marcus smart wasn’t what he was the year before and a lot of times he cost them, Malcolm Brogdon was out with a torn arm tendon, Al horford shot nowhere near the 3pt pcg he did in the reg season. Kristaps makes a big difference for this team.

I stopped listening when shady said "they let smart go". They traded him and got bigger(porzingus) and more draft assets. It wasnt working with smart at his peak. This puts all the leadership accountability on tatum and brown. Their two best players and one of the best duos in the NBA. Not to mention it will be easy to move brown if it doesnt work. Brown's super max won't kick in until next year and Tatum in 2 years. Therefore, there is a window where they could win it all within the next 2 seasons. I also the team is better off without Smart and Williams. Smart's defense took a dip this past season. A great defensive player would not have let the 2 scrubs that Miami used in the backcourt to go off like they did in the series. These same guards came back down to earth when they played the Nuggets. Smart is also a horrible offensive player. Why do you think that teams leave him unguarded in crunch time. That is because he can not shoot. But the thing I found most irritating besides all the flopping, is that Smart had an over inflated view of himself. He is simply not that good in my opinion and his defense is only going to get worse.

These takes were pretty bad takes. Bro said the warriors won 1 title since they paid steph and klay as if thats bad and a big reason is because steph missed a yr and klay missed 2 yrs and hasnt been the same since injuries. Also have they forgetton that they signed porzingis to a 3 yr extention for 68 million which is a huge bargain. They still have white who is still under 30. Tatum and brown havent even reached their primes yet because theyre getting better every yr, brogdon is still a great role player who just won 6th man of the yr. And Rob Williams still has a ton of potential. Injuries have been a factor like tatum getting hurt the first play of the game. Brogdon tore a muscle in his arm and wasnt effective as well. Lack of focus has been an issue but i think it can be fixed. If the heat can make it to a finals clearly being worse than the celtics, the celtics can win a title

They should not have fired Udoka and the way they handled the situation was stupid, but to say it’s been downhill is an exaggeration 🤣 they were still the number 2 defense all season and a top tier team, they also got to the ECF. That’s not downhill, but now, this season, they need to be better in the ECF, or it’s a major fail 💯

In my opinion the Celtics are the Bills of the NBA. Always picked to win the championship. Gonna be really good/great during the regular season. They’re always in the mix during the playoffs but can’t seem to actually win it all. I mean the Celtics were at least in the Finals but they’re very similar
