Another great report! But after watching this video I have come to the conclusion that we need two more specific types of vitamins. There should be a vitamin for more better grammar. 😘 And secondly, there should be a chocolate covered vitamin! 😋 Or we could have the grammar vitamin covered in chocolate and make a lot more people happy with one pill! 🤩 But you're correct, people are living longer and need to be more cognitive during their lifespan! And I can't see many people disagreeing with a chocolate solution! 😁 More people would remember to take their vitamins! 👍 Thanks for sharing a humorous way of improving our health!

Another fascinating video. Interesting that the study says taking multivitamin improves cognitive function, but they don't know what parts of the multivitamin are responsible for this? So I guess the takeaway is to just get any decent multivitamin, like Centrum, and take it? Can you do a video on the difference between cocoa and cacao? That is so confusing to me. It's sad that cocoa didn't make the cut but I'm still going to keep eating my chocolate. Thank you!

That's actually not a bad number of participants & a good time-line. Low dose multi vites do help, going over board on heavy duty vites is not good. Chocolate in moderation if anything lifts spirits that will you easier to live with lol. What leads to faster decline is a lack of exercise, & participation in learning news things , community etc. There are so many factors involved identifying them all is a must. Hi Docs. I would eat alot of chocolate and I couldn't remember 💩. I have tried vitamins that would help cognitive behaviors and still nothing. So I took a vitamin than ate chocolate and nothing. Still have a bad memory. I even forget simple words. It is very frustrating to say the least. I have taken a multi vitamin and the only thing it did was give me constipation. Needless to say I do not eat chocolate or take a multi vitamin anymore. I will live just the way I am. Thank you for always giving us all the information we need. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Raw cacao beans do have significant amounts of antioxidants such as epicatechin and gallic acid. Unfortunately, the process that cacao beans go through to become chocolate strips them of much of these compounds. A small amount of antioxidants remains, but it's unclear whether this amount is enough to have any benefits.

As a 68-year old chocoholic (preferring dark chocolate with ~70% cocoa content), I'm still trying to rationalize that there nevertheless appears to be a slight positive memory effect from the chocolate, peaking at the two year point in your graphs. Is that effect not statistically significant? Also, as a 3-4 cup-a-day black coffee drinker, I'm curions as to whether you're planning a presentation on studies of the effects of coffee?

Interesting! I love really dark chocolate. I’m curious, do either of you ever get colds? I know when I was working in the office and after retirement, I worked part-time in a pharmacy for a bit. I used to average minimum 5 bad colds per year. Retired full-time, average 1 mild head cold a year. (Outside of just getting over Covid! I’ve had 4 vaccine shots, due for my 5th one next month. So glad I had those shots! It knocked me off my feet for 12 days. Almost a month since I caught it, still have pain in ears and tinnitus is worse and super strange thing, my acid reflux is nasty since I caught virus! Want a sharp memory? Teach your brain to multitask and comprehend a variety of complex subject matter from an early age. In my case it's speaking several languages, playing an instrument, and studying music theory in depth. My brain ended up creating multiple visual pathways to access the same stored memories. I guess it's a form of neuroplasticity, or keeping your brain "nimble". Similar to knowing how to get to the same city using different roads, highways, etc. Stored memory is static, but accessing it is the key.

I love and respect you guys. Your posts always address questions I need answers to. However, I was excited to learn about Centrum and noticed all the non-medicinal ingredients! They were scary. I eat clean and work hard at maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Yet, those ingredients stopped me in my tracks from purchasing Centrum. I am a 68 year old woman. Thoughts?

Yes there are always additives. Need to assess the risk vs the benefit we guess.

People need to use the French/European version of chocolate--which uses about 1/3 to 1/4 of the sugar used in North America. Chocolate may be great, but the sugar isn't. You have to have what we used to call "Grandmother Cocoa"---since she lost her taste for sugar, and whoo boy! Talk about no sugar!!

I get an average of 20 answers right (before the contestants) per game of Jeopardy. Depending on the category, sometimes more. I am in my mid 60's. I wish I had been a contestant when I was younger. Now, my speed of recall has slowed down. I also usually know the answer that none of them got a couple of times per show.
